Social Profile:

The Castillo family is one of the oldest restaurant families in Central Texas still in business today serving up South-of-the-Border cuisine for more than 100 years. Family patriarch Antonio P. Castillo, Sr. started Castillo’s restaurant legacy when he opened The Aztec Cafe in the early 1930s in downtown Waco. The Aztecs introduced authentic Tex-Mex cuisine to the area, and quickly became a popular place to dine. From 1935 to 1948, The Aztec Cafe served delicious Tex-Mex, and was popular with many Baylor students due to the dance hall in the back of the restaurant nicknamed “The Patio.”

Venerable, family-owned spot serving mesquite-grilled Tex-Mex, with full bar & banquet room.

I would like to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional service provided by Drew, my server. My server was prompt in responding to my table, greeted me with a warm smile, and promptly served me tea while explaining the menu items. His exceptional service was evident in his friendly demeanor and attention to detail.
After researching the best Mexican food near Providence Hospital, La Fiesta emerged as the top recommendation. I must commend Drew for his outstanding service, which exemplifies the pride and excellence of this food service establishment. His dedication to providing exceptional customer service should be recognized and rewarded.

La Fiesta Restaurant & Cantina – Waco, TX

We had a great time at La Fiesta! The food was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you hope for from good Tex-Mex. The atmosphere was fun and relaxed—perfect for a casual night out. My queso brisket enchiladas and our Elote Street Corn Dip were delicious! Our waiter was absolutely awesome—friendly, attentive, and made sure everything came out just right. Definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to next time we’re in Waco!

The birra tacos were bomb! So good. Decent prices. Alittle on the high side for Tex-Mex but super yummy. 10/10 would eat here again!

Haven’t been here in about 10 years. Came back to Waco to visit a family member and stopped here for lunch. Pretty quiet atmosphere when we showed up. The wait staff was attentive and our waitress did a good job on our order.

Appetizers came out fast and the main entrée came out soon afterwards. The margaritas are still decent here. No complains at all. The salsa is still on point.

As non wacoians it’s been hard to find great restaurants all around. We’ve now visited La Fiesta 3x and each time is amazing! Service is great, everyone is friendly and it’s not a huge party place. Even when they have a full house you still receive amazing service.

I did not like this restaurant. The tortilla soup was served luke warm and was mostly onion. I was also not a fan of the chips or my margarita. I ordered the skinny and it had a ‘fake’ flavor.

The vibe was like the old Isle of Capri casino meets country.

Plenty of parking. Dining area and bar look nice and the place is clean and has enjoyable ambience. The servers are good and the menu has plenty of options with daily specials easy to identify. The food is a subjective thing, but it was just okay. The ground beef has a very “artificial seasoning” taste but the chicken was better. Back to the beef, it is ground so fine like sand and honestly reminds me of Taco Bell beef except more granular and not as tasty (can’t believe taco Bell beef tastes better). Chip and cold salsa were fine. Overall this place is just fine but not somewhere I would rush to go back.
