We were in the area on business trip. Found this restaurant and decided to try out. Food was good and great customer service. Wish they didn’t charge $6.50 for side of chips.

La Familia Prado is the best of the best for Mexican restaurant in Torrington (and there are several I’ve tried) and feels like family. When you get there, don’t be surprised if there are a few kids working in the restaurant. It’s a family business after all. The service is outstanding and attentive and of course, very friendly. Every bit of the food tastes like it’s made from scratch– nothing seems like it’s from a can around here. Not only that, everything just tastes healthy, light, just right. The menu is extensive. The restaurant is clean and smells great. Apparently, it’s quite a popular place in Torrington although I was visiting from Washington, DC. I can’t more highly recommend La Familia Prado. Well done!

The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was pretty good. That being said, the acoustics of the building are horrible. The walls are all painted cinderblocks with nothing to absorb sound so it gets insanely loud in here. If they would put up some sound dampening panels they would have a very lovely atmosphere here. 100% recommend you stop in if you are in the area and in the mood for Mexican food.

Canned cheese for what they call queso. Their chips were soft and made from flour tortillas. Chicken strips way over cooked. Not impressed at all. Had to get waiter since he just dropped off food & left without asking if we needed anything. Poor service poor food. See pics!

Food was outstanding! Great nachos, bean dip and salsa. Steak nacho burrito was a hit! The place was packed and we still were greeted promptly and received great service.

Just bear in mind they are closed from 2:30-4:30 and those menu pictures you might see on here on this page are out of date, though mostly still accurate. Just ask before you expect certain items. Also, the national shortages are affecting the availability of certain items, like everywhere.

There aren’t many spots in Torrington to eat so we heard this was a decent place to stop. Unfortunately because they were really busy, our server barely paid any attention to us. We had to get our own silverware, napkins, and my niece had to ask her to even come get our drink order and food order. We would have been more patient if the two tables around us didn’t get served and out of the restaurant first even though they got there after us. And would have been even more patient if we were acknowledged at all. It’s okay and understandable to be busy, just acknowledge people sitting for a long time and make sure you communicate! Maybe even bring out an app or comp drinks next time. Our order was a taco entree, chicken fajitas and chips and queso with a lemonade and iced tea. No idea what took so long. Thanks
