Reviews
But on the basis of those good-looking kitchen pics & hope for better, I went back & ordered takeout from them a while ago (delayed writing this review). Unfortunately, still not as good as I’d hoped. Beans still thin, flavor and value still not there. Sadness. 🙁

Restaurant on Hickam AFB.
Sweet customer service. Meh food (outside of supposedly homemade tamales; went at 1:45p and they were sold out). Despite owner claims of “everything homemade”, corn tortillas were NOT homemade, sadly–see pics; frozen fries and frozen pre-made corndog also. Chicken flautas needed seasoning–shredded chicken did not taste homemade and was bland. Tasted like ones I can get frozen from Costco, regrettably. Carne asada had a beautiful sear but also tasted bland and flavorless. Fat trimmed but not as well as it should have been for a $16 overall plate.
We were asked at register if we preferred corn or flour tortillas but person did NOT mention that they would charge $1.50 IN ADDITION TO the $13.95 plate for 4 small, commercial/pre-made corn tortillas that were simply slightly warmed up (many restaurants include tortillas with the carne asada at no additional cost). Beans tasted and looked from a can and were thinned out.
None of the meals come with a drink, not even kids’ meals. Frankly, all the food felt like it cost more than it should–styrofoam cups and cheap paper plates when dining in didn’t seem right at these prices. I will gladly pay for homemade, but the dishes we had did not look or taste homemade. Maybe the sold out tamales would have changed our minds, but we’re not likely to return–hidden charges, overcharges, bland food, no actual dishes for eat-in service, no refills on any drink, grey & thin refried beans, undelivered promises of “everything homemade”, high prices for food quality & quantity…the list goes on.
We were overcharged for drinks (charged for 4 drinks when ordered 3). Brought it up to them and after some discussion, they gave another drink. Would have preferred money back, as $2.85 for a large non-refillable drink is a bit stiff, especially when 1/2 full of ice. But at least they were sweet about it at the end, I guess. *NO REFILLS ON ANY DRINK, EVEN WATER AND FOUNTAIN DRINKS.*
Military/government CAC card required to enter post.
Accepts credit cards for purchases over $6 only.
Bathrooms outside. Family restroom/unisex available.
Right on golf course. View of 9th(?) Hole.
Plentiful & free parking across the street.
Went expecting more, based on other reviews. Would not return.
If I had to critique one tiny thing, it’d be the refill policy. The sweet tea is too good to only have one cup 🙂
I have visited this restaurant numerous times with family and co-workers for luncheons & events and every time I’ve eaten here half of the menu was unavailable or no longer serviced. On two occasions the gentleman who cooks had a flat out argument with the lady taking our order like he didn’t want to cook our food. After a few back and fourth she turns to us and says..ok he can cook that one. I immediately cancelled the order all together and said thank you but we have changed our mind.
Almost as if we were an inconvenience. But over all, the food was mediocre. Nothing to rave about.
