Comfort. Comfort food, great service, calm atmosphere – who would ever want to leave?!? We were visiting Philadelphia but we liked La Famiglia so much we had to come back. The front of the restaurant has a really nice little bar which we have to try next time. Main dining room is very nice and we loved being in it. The real star of the show is the food and, man was it good. However even the best food tastes better when it made with lots of love and that is what they do here. I think my favorite thing was getting prompt service without ever feeling rushed.

This was my birthday dinner that we had to postponed 3 weeks prior. We arrived 6 minutes early(7:30 reservation) and were seated immediately. Wait staff came over to ask our water preference. We noticed there were a number of large parties. The drink menus were brought and our cocktails somewhat quickly. We had a number of questions about the menu. If you want an item and it is not on the menu, ask. We inquired about caesar salads but decided to stick with a salad on the menu. However, we did order calamari Now the wait time for the salad. Our salads arrived at the table at (8:58) We were ready to leave and go somewhere local. There was a delay with the calamar by this time wwwere famished.. Once our entrees arrived, we were tired and antsy from sitting for over two hours. We saw diners leave who came in after us leave before we were done. The food and desserts were good but we were disappointed with the wait for two.

We just celebrated my husband’s 90th birthday at La Famiglia, and it was absolutely wonderful! The dinner with family and friends was perfect. Honestly, the service was top-notch and the food was out of this world. This place has a special history for us—we also celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary there a few years back, and that was just as wonderful. I highly recommend La Famiglia for any big birthday or anniversary!

We had an outstanding experience at La Famiglia! The staff was amazing, the service was excellent and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed the overall ambiance of the restaurant and felt like it was a great Italian spot that locals come to regularly. As we were from North Carolina, this was exactly the kind of local experience we wanted with an establishment that is family owned and has been in business for decades. We now know why they have been around for so long! Everyone was so friendly and attentive. We look forward to returning the next time we are in town!

After an exhausting work week, I was looking forward to a relaxing meal with my husband. On Friday, 1/16, between 7 and 9 p.m., we were seated next to two “influencers” who completely ruined our dining experience. They used a handheld LED light (as pictured) to film and take photos throughout our two-hour meal. This is a candle-lit restaurant—need I say more?
I asked our waiter if it was possible to move tables, as the light was shining directly into our faces from about four feet away. The waiter said they might have another table, but we were never moved. The influencer couple overheard my request and stated that they were “commissioned by the restaurant to film content.” I cannot verify the validity of this claim; however, if it is true, why would this be done during peak hours with a full house? The restaurant also had a completely empty private room that could have been used instead.
Unfortunately, management allowed this behavior to continue for the duration of our meal.
The wine was wonderful. The food was average. The deserts were not house made, and still a bit frozen.

Decided to make reservations here before heading to a Lounge in the city for the night. Was able to find street parking which was a nice way to start. Was greeted with friendly smiles when my husband and I walked in. Escorted right to our table. So much to be intrigued by on the walls. Made for such a beautiful ambience. The service was top notch, no pauses. They all worked together as a team to make sure their guests were not waiting for anything which is really nice to see. They gave us complimentary warm bread and butter. We ordered mostly from the nostalgia menu. Mussels in red sauce, Mozzarella alla Milanese, Penne with Sun Dried Tomato and Stuffed Filet Mignon with Prosciutto, Spinach & Mushroom over potatoes. The Penne could have been cooked just a tad longer but no complaints and not a even an ounce of sauce leftover on any plate. We didnt feel overwhelmingly stuffed which we were grateful for. We had 2 drinks each and split a Tiramisu for dessert. Probably the best Tiramisu we have ever had to be honest. Would surely come back!

Visited La Famiglia Ristorante in Philadelphia — the atmosphere is warm and traditional, with a classic dining room and a calm, welcoming vibe. Dinner started nicely with freshly baked bread and butter. The bread was excellent — crusty on the outside and soft inside. The butter, while plain and unsalted, was clean and simple.
We ordered the shrimp with zucchini appetizer, which was well-balanced in flavor, though the shrimp were slightly overcooked and ended up a bit tough.
The wait for our entrées was over 40 minutes, which felt quite long considering the pace of the evening.
The Tagliolini Pescatore had a pleasant seafood flavor and was nicely seasoned. However, the dish had a bit too much sauce — by the end, it felt more like a soup than a pasta plate. The calamari were noticeably chewy, and the shrimp could have been more tender.
The veal chop (Costata di Vitello) was the highlight of the meal — juicy, well-prepared, and nicely presented.
As a thoughtful gesture, the restaurant offered complimentary limoncello, which was a nice touch to close out the experience.
Total bill for two came to $157.48. Service throughout the evening was polite and attentive.
