Social Profile:

I have dreamed of seeing this restaurant come to life for many years. The concept is close to my heart and in every way a representation of the culture I have been lucky enough to inherit from my home country, Mexico. My family, and specifically my mother, ignited in me a passion for cooking. For La Doña, my husband, Andrea Covino, also inspired me by having a restaurant, Andrea Trattoria Italiana, exemplifying his roots. We have worked endlessly with our sons Luca, Brian, and Carmine as inspiration. Therefore, I hope to share my roots, the true Mexican and specifically Oaxacan cuisine and gastronomy that I learned from my culture.

Relaxed restaurant serving Oaxacan-style Mexican dishes in a warm, relaxed space with a patio.

Amazing Mexican food. Really authentic and we’ll thought out. Portions could be larger, but the byob margarita mix made up for it. ✨

We walk into the restaurant at 220 in the afternoon. The restaurant itself is literally empty we’re the only customers there. Because it was so sunny out we wanted to sit in the shaded area which was partially inside and partially outside. The place we wanted to sit was a table for four and there were only two of us. The hostess a 20 something person could not see her way to allow us to sit at a table for four because we were only two. I asked her politely who was going to take all the other tables for four, there were at least 8 more, since we were the only people in the restaurant and we were only going to be there for 20 minutes to eat a quick lunch, once she looked at me with a blank stare we just thanked her and left. To be fair I heard the food in this restaurant is pretty good but since the service was clearly so unacceptable we left without trying out the food. Clearly, at least here, courteous service doesn’t exist.

Amazing food! Guacamole is made in front of you and made fresh! Caesar salad is to die for and perfectly portioned! Lots of flavor and deliciousness 🙂 Staff were wonderful and super sweet ❤️ Highly recommend if you’re in the Cape May area

Classic Mexican food in a modern presentation. Everything we ordered was really tasty, flavorful and well prepared. The only improvement they need is to have more space because if your party is more than two you may have long waiting time for a busy weekend night. Service was great but relatively little bit slow within acceptable limits. They don’t serve booze but feel free to bring your own bottle. Ask for daily specials and definitely try freshly-made guacamole which will be prepared just front of you.

We (my husband, my two son’s and I) had an early dinner tonight at La Doña in the Carpenter’s Square Mall. (BYOB/BYOT) At 5:00 we were able to be seated, no wait. Outside dining. We ordered four aqua frescas, three Hibiscus flavored and one lemon. The Hibiscus was very tasty and refreshing. My son loved his lemon flavored drink. Appetizers were: prepared at table-side guacamole and chips, which was delicious. Also, chicken empanadas, an appetizer special. The dough was amazing, so light and tasty.

This is some of the worst service I’ve experienced at a restaurant ever. The actual servers were nice enough, but the manager was one of the rudest people I’ve come across in the restaurant industry.

Absolutely loved this place! What a fun ambience and was very clean and airy too. The table-side guac was simply fantastic!! Verde enchilada was so flavorful. Tres leches was yumm!!! The only thing you need to be aware of is that they dont have too many veggie options, but whatever they have, is delicious! It’s BYO.

Overly priced. Super tiny portions. I was craving ceviche so much that day. Ordered Shrimp Ceviche, which barely had shrimp, maybe 3 or 4. and had a bunch of lettuce, which I didn’t eat, to fill the tiny cup. With 2 crackers. Not coming back ever.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants ever. The food is incredible, the staff is so helpful and nice. The owner, Lucy, is there everyday and pours her heart out in everything she makes. You can tell how much everyone there cares as soon as you are greeted.

Loved the food I had the Chrorizo Torta, which had a bit of greens on the side. Sandwich for me was not a full meal so I recommend an appetizer. Not the most spacious seating and no alcohol served (byob I believe call ahead to be sure).
