We shared the Burrata with Arugula, Prosciutto, tomatoes and balsamic glaze. The Burrata was buttery smooth and I always love the salty prosciutto and balsamic drizzle to complement the creaminess of the cheese.
The bolognese sauce was to die for – hearty, balanced herbs, and flavorful! I had the Pappardelle Bolognese, my fiancé had the Lasagna Bolognese and my mom ordered the Chicken Piccata.
The portions are huge and more than enough for 2 meals for me. We ordered 2 tiramisu to-go for dessert which tasted homemade as well.
Totally worth checking out! You will not be disappointed!!
In a town filled with Italian restaurants, our experience here last night was over the top! The place is casual, lots of menu options and decent wine list. We splurged in a couple bottles of a nice Valpolicella.
The owners are present in the kitchen cooking and all the love pours into the food and did not disappoint. The homemade bread was warm and crispy. Salads were large and shareable size.
Paccheri ai frutti di mare was my main dish which consisted of large tube-shaped pasta with a medley of fresh mussels, clams, octopus and shrimp, cooked in a savry tomato sauce and a hint of wine. They also made it with a white wine sauce for us which was good as well, but red sauce was better.
One of the owners, Tona brought us many homemade desserts right out of the oven for us to try which were all amazing. We were even able to place an order for her to make desserts for a party of 50 wedding for next week. Dessert problem solved!
Oh, and to top it all off they brought us a unique shot of icy lemoncello to end the meal. We had such a great evening and we will be back there soon.
With that said, my favorite part of this place are the owners and staff. Our food came out quickly, but we stayed for hours because it was such an inviting environment. The owners came out to check on us and chat, even on a busy night. It felt like seeing family I hadn’t seen in years.
So we sat outside and were promptly served warm, fresh bread with olive oil and grated cheese. A charming server helped us order lasagne bolognese and a mushroom and sausage pasta dish. They arrived quickly and were perfectly seasoned, with beautifully al dente, clearly handmade pasta and rich, tender meat. Every bite was perfect!
The servers were all sweet and helpful, and later, the owners came outside and thanked us warmly. Grazie!
I’m a former food writer, and traveled all over Italy. We’re lucky to have these wonderful Italians and their authentic food in Sarasota! If you want wonderful food and charming ambiance, enjoy La Dolce Vita!
restaurant after stopping at Detwiler Market.
We found service excellent and a sever educated on the wine list.
The taste and blends of the meals were excellent.
Thank you to the owner who visited our table with a quick history of Italy.
We will be back
I have driven past this place on Stickney so many times and never noticed it. It’s a small storefront in a strip mall. Once through the door, it is a well decorated welcoming owner operated eatery. The menu is sufficient to satisfy most people. The difficult part was choosing only one meal. There are things that I want to try, but I will have to wait until the next visit.
We selected the Calamaretti saltati con colatura d’alici. Well, they did have the typical fried calamari on the menu. We thought we would try this. It is difficult to cook, calamari and not have it chewy. This was done perfectly with excellent taste.(Yes, that was my breakfast).
I had the Bucatini alla Puttanesca. The pasta was perfect and the flavors blended together and into an outstanding dish. Sadly, after savoring each forkful, there was none left for breakfast.
My wife had a homemade pasta with lobster. It was on the daily special so I can’t reference it from the menu. Lobster was cooked to the point where it was not stringy or chewy and retrained its flavor.
It was on the daily special menu so I can’t reference the name of the entrée.
There is no substitute for passionate culinary skills. La Dolce Vita exemplifies this.
Thank you for a wonderful meal
