I treated my family to dinner at La Cremaillere last evening and will not return any time soon. We ate there years ago and heard it was under new management so we gave it a try. The restaurant is still pretty and romantic.

Excellent meal on top of the hill. The escargot (pictured) was the best we’ve had, even my 7 year old liked it. The kids also enjoyed their steak and fries (pictured). We sat out front but the garden room in the back looked amazing.

An amazing experience dining here at La Crem. The service was excellent and the menu complimented the spring season perfectly. We enjoyed the pasta additions and chose the three course menu. The cavatelli were tender and perfectly paired with the eggplant and calabrian chiles as were the agnolotti. The long island duck was tender and flavorful. The scallops’ sear was on point and the tender peas and fava were the perfect accompaniment to the warm risotto. Their pommes frites are a must as is their mille feuille with strawberries to end the meal. This is one of the best dining experiences in the tri-state area and may even surpass fine dining in Manhattan.

From top to bottom, a tremendous dining experience. Thomas does an amazing job in the kitchen with the flavor profile of all the dishes. You can do a 2 or 3 course tasting. If you’re really hungry do three, two is fine. Highly recommend the tartare de boeuf, foie gras, dover sole meuniere, entrecote de boeuf, veal medallions. Wine list superb both regular list to reserve list. And the bread and butter. Service outstanding.

You walk into a Landmark establishment that we had been to for almost 40 years and times have changed. Atmosphere was a little stuffy but service staff was great. The food was very expensive and dated and left you looking for better. The ice machine was dirty and left tons of white and black particles in our water. Hopefully, they buy a new one ASAP as the health dept may have an issue with this level of cleanliness. The ice machine should be replaced. Staff was very helpful, full of smiles, and professional but the food was underwhelming. Watermelon and Feta was the highlight of the evening and was very tasty. The NY strip steak was full of tendons but there was great presentation, this doesn’t make up for the underwhelming overall food and cleanliness of the restaurant.

Wife and I hadn’t visited for 47 years so a bit of a gap and we were curious how we would find it. Unchanged, and in a good way. It isn’t just nostalgia. Service on a friday night with a very large party in the adjoining was unruffled, personable and prompt. The food is far from nouvelle and the decor is “country French” frozen in time but it all holds up just fine. We enjoyed ourselves.

Food was mediocre and the NY strip steak was full of tendons, it had a very nice atmosphere and was super expensive. The ice machine was very dirty and all of he waters had lots dirty particles in it. Staff was very nice but the ice machine needs to be replaced immediately. Food want my favorite and the value want good.

We visited for my birthday dinner. We were excited to return and enjoy a French dinner. The restaurant was very busy with many birthday dinners taking place. We had a nice table. We struggled with having a sommelier visit and with taking our order. The food tried hard but only the French fries and chocolate cake won. The kitchen doesn’t seem trained and most of the dishes were heavy handed and lacked any finesse. Service staff wasn’t trained at all and it was chaotic on the floor. We hope the new team gets their legs under them and can deliver.

Two stars for the location and cute decor. We paid $600 for dinner for two, and quite honestly for that price I would have expected much better food and quality of service. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t good either. We were underwhelmed with each passing course and waiting for the meal to end. Things were burned, unrecognizable (both in appearance and taste), drenched in sauce, undercooked, or overcooked. I got the impression that someone’s aunt really wanted to be a chef and gave it their best shot. I’m still upset over the quality of food given the price tag. Enjoyed the French fries though.

Don’t get me wrong, this was a good expensive restaurant. But some of the experience was less than okay.
