Reviews
Surprised by my experience compared to recent Google reviews, but after looking at OpenTable’s recent reviews, my experience certainly aligns a lot closer to what other folks are reporting that reserved and dined through the App.
Understand that this restaurant is located in Coronado, so prices are going to be higher, but that does mean there’s an expectation that the food will be good, and sadly it wasn’t.
We ordered the Red Snapper Tostada and Fish Ceviche platter which both tasted mediocre, the spicy Octopus Taco had no spice to it at all, the jumbo shrimp were way over cooked and rubbery. The only decent dish was the butterfly dish.
Then on drinks, the Mezcalita cocktails had no taste of Mezcal, so not even sure it was added. We also had a similar experience to others when ordering glasses of wine that as they get closer to closing time, there’s less availability as they don’t want to open another bottle which is odd for red a wine. One of our red wines must have been stored in the refrigerator as the wine was cold and leaving condensation on the glass. Our server was at least nice and helpful if there’s at one positive thing to share from the experience.
Victor was very attentive and knew the menu well!
The atmosphere is charming and the service is as good as the food tastes. La corriente coronado
I had a very pleasant time..
Also i asked for a fish taco, which i had pointed to on the HH menu, and the server Ivan said it’s a typo, “we have a shrimp taco.” And I said, perfect I’ll order that. And when it came it, it was lackluster with 3 mini shrimp, not worth ordering again. Then I asked for the check, i was charged the regular rate not the HH price. I told Ivan he should have told me ahead of time as I clearly pointed and ordered everything, even drinks, from the HH menu. He said I did. And I still did my due diligence and tipped 20% but that’s not hospitality I expected.
I can no longer recommend this restaurant. Do yourself a favor and visit Little Frenchie up the street. They also have a happy hour and know what hospitality means.
Would recommend upgrading the look of the menus and staff attire.
When craving seafood this is the one to go to!
