She runs a food truck that fires up every weekday morning at 5:30 AM, then she opens the restaurant at 8:30 AM and stays open late. The hardest-working person in Oxford serving the best food in Oxford.
If you haven’t been here yet, go. Bring friends. Bring strangers. This place deserves a line around the block.
There were a variety of lunch options, so we asked for recommendations. My companion ordered the Pescado Lago de Yojoa, which was a whole fried tilapia served with fried rice, fried sliced plantains, black beans, and salad. I went with the server’s suggestion of Pollo con Tajadas which is fried chicken served on a bed of freshly shredded cabbage and fried plantains, smothered in a cream sauce topped with crumbled cheese. Our server mentioned that this is a very popular dish in Honduras.
Everything was delicious, and portions were huge! We could taste the care and love that went into preparing the food. For dessert, my companion selected items from the freezer case. The popsicle was made from the Nance fruit which was unfamiliar to us and very tasty!
Our server Maida was friendly and helpful, and our food was served quickly. We truly enjoyed our Honduran food adventure!
Just an update… I did go to the restaurant and tell them and show them what’s the problem was and they laughed. They said that was steak, it looked and smelled like they were cooking animals that they found in the back. $17 for something that we could not eat. Very disappointed and disgusted.
