Taco day so we stopped by La Cocina in the Brookstone Shopping Center. Very nice entrance with lots of plants and a patio. Too hot now to sit outside but it will be nice in the fall. The service was very friendly and attentive. I had the Carne Asada Tacos. Very good, the steak was cut in small cubes – easy to eat and great flavor.

I like the LA Cocina salad with grilled chicken. My husband got Tijuana Fajitas, it had chicken, chorizo, and the other usual ingredients and he like it. However, we got the small guacamole, and it had a very low ratio of avocado. It was very overshadowed by the other ingredients. I added a few more slices from my salad after it came, and that improved it but it still should have had more. But the thing that will really prevent me from ever ordering it again is that the entire quantity in the bowl was about 3/4 of a cup. Further, it used to be about $6, now it is $8.25. Perhaps they think it’s worth it because the server makes it tableside. I just wanted some quac to go with the chips.

My daughter and I just ate dinner here. The previous few experiences were pretty good so I was looking forward to coming here again. Unfortunately tonight was a disappointment. Baja fish tacos were bland and the texture was all wrong. Rice and beans were flavorless. I didn’t get my daughter’s rating of her chicken fajitas, but she only ate about 1/3 of it. My Fresca margarita tasted like Sprite. Even the sweet tea was bad. It was more syrupy than McDonalds. I have added a photo of the end of the meal. As you can see, there’s at least half left, including the beverages. And it was $84 with tip. Sad to say it will be quite a while before I give La Cocina another chance.

Grabbed some Mexican this evening, my wife loves the fish tacos, and I had to go low carb and got some wings. Good came out fast, but they brought lemon pepper instead of hot, no worries, I like lemon pepper too. I guess they realized and brought me a bowl of their hot sauce, so I dipped the lemon pepper wings in the hot sauce, and omg, I found a new favorite flavor. Go check them out, tell them Eric Berry with Fathom Realty sent you, you’ll love it.

Reading other positive reviews and I cannot believe we ate at the same restaurant. I took my family there for taco tuesday and we received the worse tacos I have ever had in my life. We ordered a variety of them and all of them were bad. I also ordered a margarita and never received it. I really wanted to like this place since I live close by. I gave it a second chance by doing a to go order a few weeks later. The food was horrible. Thank goodness for Uber Eats and other local Mexican restaurants nearby. Im willing to travel to get to better Mexican restaurants.

Been coming here since 2008… we love La Cocina! My last two visits sitting on the balcony the music was so LOUD it was extremely uncomfortable. The first occurrence was a weekday during off hours. We asked the server to turn it down just a little, because we couldn’t hold conversation. Staff were scrambling only to tell us, only the manager could control the volume and they were not there.
