I’ve wanted to eat at La Cosina since moving to Santa Clarita, and I finally made it in today for lunch with my daughter.
The lunch menu is great with plenty of variety. I ordered the chicken burrito and my daughter had the kids quesadilla and a soda. Our total was only about $30, which is a great value considering the portions—I even brought half my burrito home!
The service was excellent, and the burrito was very delicious. I’ll definitely be back soon with my husband to try the tacos and enchiladas!

If you are just a party of two, and you are looking for something quick and easy, this is probably the place. I brought my family and the in-laws. That was a total of six people. They stuffed us into a small booth that was made for maybe four people, and then put a chair at the end of the table. My little girl sat in that chair and she kept getting hit by the people walking by. Right after ordering a plate of taquitos, my wife changed her mind. It was literally less than 5 minutes after the order was put in. I asked if she could change her order to flautas instead of taquitos. The guy just told me that he put the order in and he can’t do anything about it. I know there were some people in front of me and I know that one or two minutes will not make an entire meal. Everything seemed to be rushed. The staff and the people all seemed to be getting through it as quickly as possible. Even asking for a to-go box seemed like a huge task. I tried calling ahead and seeing if I could get reservations. Every time I would call, there was a busy signal and I called several times. It was messy, it was as loud as possible, and the house Margaritas were not very good. They just plain tasted like a margarita I could make at home. I would go back if there were only two people and I wasn’t worried about the budget. Another issue was that I could see on the menu where they had replaced the prices of different dishes, with a higher price. That’s never a good thing. The prices could have been more reasonable as well. Especially for what they served.

We were HUNGRY!! The place was full but we got a table right away. The waiter was great. The food came in nice, large portions. It was a little bland and needed some salsa and hot sauce, but better to build it up to your liking, than have it start of too spicy. Meals are about $20. We enjoyed ourselves.

Go early or late. It was a friday but we got there before 4pm and it was already half full. Less than an hour later there was a line out the door. Good, not great food. Some of it very good. Love the table salsa and warm chips. Queso appetizer was far to thick and not heated enough but tasted good, it just was too difficult to get on a chip or tortilla. For me a Mexican restaurants chili relleno is a barometer of the entire menu. La Cocina’s here was adequate and good but it was not special. The wife had canitas plate and said it was delicious but she’s certainly jad better. Top shelf Margarita were also quite good but tasted of pre-mix to my tongue and I can’t endorse that. Then if the food was just above average how was it a 4 and a 4 overall. Value. I thought they must have left something off the bill. It was too low but no, it was correct just surprisingly affordable for a restaurant in SoCal in late 2024. Our server was rewarded nicely because I had more to spare and he did an outstanding job. Dining room is noisy, it was a full restaurant by the time we left and it’s also relatively small however the bar has a wall between it and the dining room so it’s almost like a bar only joint on that side. Overall I enjoyed the in restaurant dining experience very much. We’ll be back and I’ll see if perhaps other dishes dazzle and match the rest of what LaCocina has to offer.

The ORIGINAL La Cocina. We have a location 1/4 miles from us on Golden Valley but we drive the extra 5 miles to go to this location.
Honestly, the food tastes even better than the Golden Valley location and I didn’t think that was possible. 10 out of 10 here and 9 out of 10 at Golden Valley.

We rate this gem the best Mexican food we’ve had in California. In fact we’ve gone out of our way and stayed overnight just to go here. The warm chips and salsa to start are a precursor of the well executed menu. I love Chile Rellenos and you won’t find any better ones than here. Enchiladas, Carnitas and so much more are all excellent. The rice and beans which in many Mexican restaurants are an afterthought are delicious and we clean our plate every time. I’m generally not a beer drinker but they have Dos Equis on tap served in a large cold schooner. It’s too perfect a pairing to pass up. I have brought many guests here and they all have left happy. I even brought someone who’s not a fan of Mexican food and he left vowing to return on his own. I wasn’t surprised. While I’m writing this I’m getting a yearning for a Combo PlateI guess it’s time to plan another road trip to La Cocina.

I absolutely love this restaurant! My husband and I have twin toddlers and every time we come here they always make sure to take care of our girls first which always makes our experience so much better. The service is “faster than at home” (from twin B) and the food is “way better than what mommy makes” (from twin A) which I have to agree. The food is amazing, the service is top notch and it is 100% family friendly for atmosphere and budget. Oh and the margaritas..amazing!!!
