Reviews
The restaurant offers only one tasting course, priced at 35,200 yen, served entirely in an omakase style.
Naturally, expectations were quite high, but after experiencing the meal, my overall impression of the food was that it was “simply good.”
Rather than having one or two standout dishes that left a strong impression, the course felt consistently well executed and carefully constructed throughout.
One notable point is the length of the meal.
It took approximately three to three and a half hours for all dishes to be served, making it a fairly long dining experience.
While this pacing may be intentional as part of the restaurant’s concept and overall experience, some guests may find it a bit lengthy.
The cuisine is clearly creative and expresses a strong individual vision, but considering the reputation, accolades, and price point, I found it difficult to give a definitive evaluation.
Ultimately, this is a restaurant where impressions will vary greatly depending on how much one values the concept, creativity, and overall experience beyond just the taste of the food.
There was a a multitude of snacks and dishes but it was fish after fish dish. There was a little pork in the starter a singular shrimp, and a main with duck, but it was fish after fish. The pizza seemed like a bread course then a random cold brioche came out as the 9th course…but with no salt, butter or sauces, cold and crumbly it was not fresh baked nor was there an attempt to hide it.. The main course comes out as a hodgepodge of 4 seperate dishes that are meant to be eaten in order but 3 were hot and 1 was not. Was it to expedite plating in the kitchen? Does everyone want to go home so they sent out 4 courses at once? Is the main supposed to go cold while I eat 2 seperate hot dishes? It just didn’t make sense. Why is my main course of duck just duck and sauce? No vegetable, no puree.
Even with service there is a lack of wine knowledge, no spirits or cocktails. 2 servers trying to plate and clear and reset tables for 9 guests still took ages especially with 4 plates dropping on a single course with 6 utinsils, 2 tables with wine pairings and 1 non alcoholic pairing. The dinner ran 4 hours.
It really just feels like the dishes are copied or taken from other restaurants and cobbled together in a random order and lack elements and flow and cohesiveness. Not worth the experience in it’s current level of execution and cost but perhaps it’s better when the chef is there.
Would not recommend visiting, waste of time, money and calories. It’s the first time l I wanted a meal to end so badly during its course.
Thats being said, food aside, service was pretty good.
Located in the heart of Osaka, La Cime has earned two Michelin stars and a place on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, making it one of Japan’s most acclaimed culinary destinations. Under the direction of Chef Yusuke Takada, the restaurant is celebrated for its innovative approach to French cuisine, rooted in Japanese sensibility and seasonal expression.
I visited for lunch, and every dish was crafted with extraordinary precision and emotion.
Not only were the flavors exceptional, but each plate felt like it held its own story.
The number of courses was generous, and even the desserts came in multiple expressions — leaving me more than satisfied.
This is truly a dining experience that can only be felt here and nowhere else.
ごちそうさまでした — thank you for an unforgettable meal.
The restaurant itself is intimate, creating the perfect setting for a special meal. We enjoyed pairing our dishes with Japanese wine, which added an extra layer of uniqueness to the experience.
The only downside was a slight language barrier that made it difficult to fully understand the details of what we were eating. However, that didn’t take away from the overall excellence of the meal. It was a memorable dining experience, and we’d gladly return.
Wine pairing also worth for the dinner, complimenting the dishes well.
Most of the 12 courses lacked the depth of flavor we expected; many felt bland, and only the final dessert truly stood out. Despite the great reviews from others, the culinary experience didn’t justify the hype and price for us.
The dining room had just three tables and they were set simply in a way that creates the impression of a blank canvas.
Each course was beautiful and delicate, playing in the space between French and Japanese cuisine
Compared with some other experiences the kitchen felt far away, behind two glass walls, but the chef was nice enough to come greet us at the end of the meal and say goodbye
First, I’ll say, the service was great and this is not a reflection of the service at all. They were very kind, respectful, and attentive.
The meal itself was a massive disappointment and we honestly couldn’t believe we spent that much money for the meal. The vibe of many of the dishes was deconstructing certain vegetables but it just missed the mark. The first amuse was flavorless, the onion soup with hops did not work as a combination, the grilled asparagus had me questioning why we were paying an obscene amount for this meal, we could go on. The meal had cool elements but overall lacked flavor. Some dishes were good, such as the squid. But in the 9ish amuse bouche and 7ish courses there was 1 fish we loved, a few we liked, the rest were ok, and there were about 3 dishes my partner straight up hated. Like, couldn’t finish it at all.
We also got the wine pairings and it’s worth noting that they were all whites / 1 bubbly / 1 rose except 1 glass of red which just reflects the food was mostly vegetables and some fish except for 1 duck course. Wine pours were also a bit inconsistent.
Last, we were told to budget 3-3.5 hours for the meal and the meal lasted 4 hours. In addition, the room was so incredibly hot. My partner ran to the restroom to splash water on his face, that’s how warm it was.
We’ve done several fine dining / Michelin star dinners and we’ve never had such a horrendous experience. We flip back and forth between being angry, disappointed, and in disbelief on how much we spent for a dinner we hated. But one things for sure, we will never return.
