I came from Texas to Bloomington for a short weekend trip to the college.
I have to say, I only went to La Charreada because the front desk worker at our hotel suggested it. Living in Texas, I get some of the best Mexican food around so getting Mexican food in Indiana want in my to- do list.
I was presently surprised! The vibe was great, service was great and the food was really really good! I highly recommend this place!

We have been here several times without problems untill tonight. We ordered our food upon ordering when it was noted husband wanted Alvacado on the side, he said ,” That’s what we call a Gringo.” Moderately offensive but we get our food and my husband gets chicken and not steak he ordered and the Waiter argues says you said chicken!! We quickly ate and packed our food up and will not return, offensive/ racist/ narcissistic culture from the waiter. Also staff diaper changing infants in a dining room where people are eating is not sanitary.

Just had a delish lunch at La Charreada in Bloomington! The atmosphere was alive with great music, and the service was impressively fast. The chips and queso were the perfect start – absolutely delicious! And the steak fajita taco salad? Simply the best. La Charreada is definitely the top spot for Mexican cuisine in Bloomington, though shoutout to El Ranchero for being a super close second!

Fantastic food and atmosphere. Our drinks were out in under 3 minutes and quite generous with the pour. The food was pretty standard for Mexican food, but the quality was pretty solid and delicious. Left feeling fullfilled and could easily go back again for more. They have a lounge area set up more for adult drinks and bar area to the back left. Really enjoy the atmosphere back there.

Had the steak/chicken mix Fajita Quesadillas with rice and beans. Queso/salsa with chips. Modelo on tap.
Exactly what you’d expect to find at a Mexican restaurant.
Service was kind and friendly. Very attentive.
Very clean and orderly.
Food was fresh and delicious. Queso was delightfully spicy, but only ever so mild.
Overall a fantastic and quiet experience.
I would come here again if given the chance.

The food was good, and the servings were generous, okay. But the interior smelled bad. I thought it was maybe bug spray but one of our party worked in remediation and said that was the smell of wet carpet. We sat outside in the good weather, but blistering sun with no umbrellas or any shade at all. Our waiter was very nice but disorganized and forgetful of details of our order.

Great spot for some great food. Walk in and be embraced with great smells and traditional music, ask to be seated by the bar and break away into a happenin college scene with club music and larger booth seating as well as tables. They have a large menu selection and even food and drink specials. We went the weekend before valentines day, they had lots of decorations: heart balloons, heart confetti, and even a small vase of red roses at every table to make it a nice romantic meal. They have great margaritas as well as many draft beers. They had a mamacita margarita with was buy one get one or get the monster margarita shown in the picture. I got the 34oz beer for $8. The food was all great portions, very fresh, and well priced. Due to staffing it did take a while to recieve service after seating but we immediately got waters, chips, and salsa. I highly recommend this place if it’s just you, you and a date, or a whole crew of friends. Check em out, you won’t regret it!
