Very cute and cozy restaurant! A lot of thought and creativity was put into the building. The staff is very nice and patient. Food was tasty but also little more pricy than other Mexican restaurants I’ve been to. I ordered the chipotle enchiladas and they were good but needed more sauce. One kid ordered chicken wings from the appetizer menu and she said they were good (only sauce is ranch and bbq). Second kid ordered the steak cheese and rice and he said it was the best dish he has ever got at a Mexican restaurant. Husband ordered the andale mi reyna and it was okay but not what he was expecting.

My dish was really good the Alambre. My daughter got the Texas Fajitas. She said they were ok but I thought they looked great.
Service was slow, but the guy was very nice. He was just juggling to many tables it seemed.
Surprised my Margarita came in a tumbler glass not a margarita glass. Especially for the price point of 11$. But it was a very good margarita. Presentation could have been better for the price or even tell me there’s another option ( small or large) since there wasn’t a drink menu. Ordered dessert to go. Got charged a 2$ to-go fee. I wasn’t impressed at all with the the boxed dessert to go and toppings. Super tiny Gallup of whip cream & 1 slice of a strawberry. Very little sauce maybe a teaspoon & a half. (See pics)
Chip’s & Salsa served at seating but very bland salsa without an option of spicy or mild.

Best Mexican food in the keweenaw!
We are from out of town and found this place by accident after we went to a couple others were closed on a Sunday. It appears to be very new. The interior was very lively, decorated really cool and bright. The service was top-notch, but nothing was as good as the food. Everything we got delicious and well prepared. We will certainly come back here for all our Mexican food cravings!

We stopped by a little later than we normally eat dinner, so we were not starving, but the 3 of us ordered the La Parrillada, the fajita with all the meats- and it was enough for 4 people easily!! Very delicious and filling!! Delivered fast. The strawberry margarita was excellent too! Sorry, I drank it to fast and didn’t get a picture! Definitely will come back when we are back this way!

If you’re in the Houghton/Hancock/ Keweenaw area La Catrina is a must-do, especially for lunch. On our most recent visit my wife, son, and I took advantage of inexpensive lunch specials, regular menu items, and beer menu. The total, including a generous tip for good service, was $40. The portions are generous, even on the $6 lunch special. I only ate half, so I actually got two meals for $6 – one Value Meal at Burger King costs way more that that! The portions are also flavorful, food is delivered quickly, and the ambiance is wonderful. You really should go.

This was our first time here, and our hosts had been here once before and highly recommended it. We were not disappointed. The whole restaurant was clean and inviting, the food was hot and delicious. The guac is the good stuff, freshly made with bits of onion and tomato, and not like the smooth versions that are blended with sour cream to stretch profits; no sir! The Molcajete is stunning and delicious. Servers were friendly, quick and helpful. This is a pretty new restaurant, and they’re doing a good job, so support them too!

Food was good. The service was good. They gave a refill or salsa and chips very quickly, unasked. The vibe inside was a little more nightclub than I was expecting but it definitely worth it when a unicorn and a panda came out and sang happy birthday to a table. Would go again, probably adventure the menu some more.

I’ve gone back a couple of times. I’ve experienced a little menu variations. Both on my part with trying new things and I’ve also experienced unrequested/uninformed Crema. It could be worse but still not the most peasant.
I’ve been with a LARGE group and to be honest we felt a little left behind. The aforementioned attentive salsa/chip was absent. This particular visit had people order guacamole and queso so the refill of chips and a need. I would love to say it was because it was busy but it really wasn’t. Might have been what did it for us. Since there wasn’t much else in that side of the building. I dunno. Just thinking out loud.
Don’t get me wrong. The food is very good.

We were visiting the area and looking for a close place to have supper. We were seated immediately & received our food within minutes of ordering!! The food was AMAZING!!! The flavor of the chicken was phenomenal, very well seasoned and grilled to perfection My kids dishes were also fantastic!
