They are selling expired items and re- label the item. This soda expired on July 2025 and is was re-label to may 2026. I will be reporting to local health department or Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH) on this store

I don’t usually give a 1 star but my treatment felt race based. I was the only non Hispanic person in a long line, and I was given a short rushed answer when asking a single question, as well as being given a smaller slice of cake (literally moved a larger one to give me the smaller one). But beyond all of that, the baked goods just aren’t actually good. The tres leches seemed to be a uno leches that just used regular whole milk. I also had a version in a cup and while it looks delicious, it tastes like stale old cake that didn’t sell, that was then drenched in milk. Surprisingly for this one the milk seemed to use 2 types. But it wasn’t sweet and the cake just wasn’t good. Save your time and money. Especially if you’re not Hispanic.

I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at La Castellana Bakery. I recently purchased bread and when I got home, I discovered it was moldy! It’s completely unacceptable.
I won’t be returning, and I suggest others think twice before shopping here.

This place is such a gem and is one of the things that makes waltham such a special place to live. In the morning you can smell the bread across the street and it is amazing. I love that the breads are just sweet enough, and price is excellent. One of my favorite things is taking some la castallana rolls and a coffee to the charles river for breakfast. My wife and I will usually buy 30 or so rolls from them at a time and keep them in our freezer to put in the air fryer for breakfast. The staff is very friendly.

The energy’s chill, the treats are divine, and the prices are reasonable. My partner and I make it a point to swing by at least once a week. We’re talking top-notch quality, fresh from the oven. Can’t beat the love and care they put into every cake and pastry. This bakery’s got soul!

The interesting thing about Hispanic cultures is that every country has their own way to make the same things. The food was passable, average I would say. I tried the flan, tres leches, and pan dulce. The pan dulce was barely sweet, and drier than usual. The kind of dryness that you really have to gulp down and are afraid to choke as it’s going down. The tres leches was well done. The sponge was over mixed and as a result did not retain any of the milk. The flan lacked sugar but I would say it was the best tasting of the three items I tried. I love my people and I love supporting their business but I was immensely let down and disappointed. I wouldn’t have left a review if the parking wasn’t a nightmare and after running 4 blocks in the rain since I couldn’t find a parking spot, all I wanted was authentic tasting and delicious Hispanic pastries, instead I got whole foods tasting imitation Hispanic desserts.

The bread they sell has mold. I recently purchased bread and ended up throwing it away. I threw up after I noticed the bread had mold inside. Smh, very disappointed.

Always come here for crema and quajada. Their prepared foods can be a hit or a miss so I would be careful. The tress leches they sell is not my style. Everything else is really good. Pastries are so good, pan dulce is amazingly fresh, and their fresh baked French rolls are delicious. I’ve even gotten their tortillas when I’m in a pinch and they are pretty good as well.

Every time I walk by, my mouth waters from the aromas!! The pastries are as tasty as they smell, haven’t tried them all, but my favorite so far are the banana muffins, the flan and the sweet bread with the white swirls in it. Staff is super friendly and greet you as soon as you walk in.

delicious and super, super cheap, there was also fresh horchata/tacos (I think?)/and some other hot stuff at 7AM. not sure if they do coffee but it’d be a great addition if they don’t. Regardless this place is awesome.
I filled a bag with mostly randomly picked breads/sweets for 5 bucks.
