I wasn’t sure if it would be open because I tried to call and kept getting a busy signal! Now I know why! This place had the phone ringing non stop, and why wouldn’t it be? We ordered a pretty large to go order, and our order was up in minutes. The food was incredible and the service is excellent. Would recommend to anyone!

This is the little house of Flavor. Only a few tables available. Best Tex Mex for Miles around. I have literally driven 100 miles for thier food.
Cash only, call ahead if you want take out for lunch. Worth the drive.

What a fun little place , although it can seat probably 50 people inside and maybe 10 outside. Colorful, great service, and really good food. I’m vegetarian so the cheese enchiladas were perfect and good news- the beans had no lard and the rice no chicken broth. My husband is a carnivore and throughly enjoyed his ground beef enchiladas as well as the beans and rice. The place fills quickly so go early!

This is what Mexican food should taste like.
I couldn’t get enough.
I’m not quite sure if I have ever publicly sopped up the last of the enchilada sauce on a plate with a tortilla. The sauce was out of this world.
The only other crispy taco shells that I’ve had this good in my life were my mothers – God bless her soul. For crispy tacos- the freshness of the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese was what you could only achieve at home.
The carne asada was sheer perfection.
The salsa was too spicy for my liking, but another in our party inhaled two bowls by himself.
No thrills, no frills inside. None needed. The food speaks for itself.
They close at 3 pm.
Cash only-no plastic.

Order to go: soft tacos with rice and beans plate. I am not the least impressed with the quality of food served here. Beans had a strange flavor and rice tasted awful! Greasy rice
The meat in the tacos tasted okay. I didn’t finish the plate.

I Did not even bother to eat here. I ask if I could seat outside because it was a party of 5. They told me we don’t serve outside just get it to go and you could seat outside. So then I say ok we seat inside but there is not a big table available for a party of 5. No help, we seat and waited for our party. Few min have pass no help. I just walk out. Then another lady which by the way that one was nice. Then offer to acomodate us. But at that point, no im leaving! That should of have being done when I walk in. So no.

2.0 | the staff was very friendly but sadly the food was not great at all. I felt like the guac had sour cream? it didn’t have seasoning, lime, onion, any of the normal things you’d expect in traditional guacamole. the rice and beans we left on the plate bc it just looked like mush, and the steak was quite chewy and overdone. sadly it seems like the authenticity of Mexican cuisine has been lost to cater to its crowd. unfortunately, I would not recommend.

If you’re staying in, passing through, or anywhere near Alpine, you’ve got to check out La Casita! It’s a hole in the wall neighborhood restaurant that appears to cater to mostly locals. Within 30 seconds of seating myself I had a basket of fresh tortilla chips and fresh made salsa…you’d better be ok with spicy because it is!
I opted for one of the house specialties, the Mexican Plate. It’s a lot of food…two tacos, three enchiladas (beef, chicken or cheese), rice and beans. The tacos are filled with flavorful ground beef, shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes and freshly grated cheese. These were some of the best taco shells I’ve ever had…light, crispy and a great fresh corn flavor. I could have eaten a half dozen.
I had the beef enchiladas and they were filled with the same great tasting ground beef found in their tacos. The enchilada sauce had the subtle flavors of sautéed onions and garlic in a mild red chili sauce. They were covered in gooey melted cheese, as were the homemade refried beans.
If you’re looking for great Tex-Mex food in the Alpine area you should check out La Casita.

This restaurant has been open 49 yrs, and there is definitely a reason for that. Excellent service, excellent food, and excellent prices.
