Excellent place to come and eat some Dominican and Puerto Rican food. We tried the trifongo with chicken and bacalao( cod fish) and the flavors were phenomenal. The trifongo nice, soft and not dry with a side of broth included for the chicken one. For dessert we had the cheese flan and tasted delicious. They have Presidente and Medalla beers and if you know those brands you know because they are staples in the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Overall a great place to spend your evening with the family or with your significant other. Be aware that the restaurant already includes the tips on the check no matter if is solo or group dinning so no need to include tips. So if you come here and see an extra charge on the check is the tip as a lot of people from Latin America aren’t used to tipping so the management no includes this on the check. Service was great and the servers had great knowledge of the dishes and had good recommendations on everything. Come and check them out you will leave with a full belly and happy.

A full-on family feast at La Casa del Mofongo in Silver Spring! From mashed plantains and crispy pork to bacalao and trifongo that tasted like it was blessed by the Caribbean gods—every bite was pure comfort.
Washed it all down with passion fruit juice, Puerto Rican Malta India (yes, India—not Polar or Goya ), and an ice-cold Presidente.
We wrapped it up with cheese flan and tres leches to-go (because dessert deserves its own encore).

Delicioso doesn’t even begin to cover it. If you’re craving sabor, soul, and serious portions—this spot delivers.

Not as expected!
Mofongo with fish, fish was too hard kind of rubbery type, maybe over cook.
The Mofongo in both dishes was also too hard, should be little bit more soft, it was like rocky.

Food was exactly what we were expecting. It was delicious. The alcupurias de yuca were good but de guneao were phenomenal. Tostones with the garlic sauce were perfect. The star of the show, and the reason we visited, was the mangu de 3 gulpes was amazing. Exactly what we’re hoping for. Definitely would go again if we are in the area. Server was very nice and friendly as well. Prices were higher than we’d expect but no complaints because the food was great.

I tried this restaurant out with a coworker during the week. The food was good and the service was also good. It is worth a try. My friend enjoyed her breakfast plate. The oxtails were flavorful. The empanadas were authentic.

Straight to the point: The mangu was excellent. At the same time, I can’t say that I love Mangu that much to pay $40 for a great breakfast with good coffee and over-sweet concentrated passion fruit. At least not in that atmosphere. The restaurant was clean, but it smelled like raid and looked run-down. Bottom line is that if it’s a twenty-five dollar meal I’d be hard pressed not to give it five stars. But even in Biden’s economy, if you’re forking over forty bucks for breakfast, there’s a set of expectations that come with it.

I stopped in to get something to eat while traffix died down. I ordered the Oxtail with Monfongo. It was delicious! I ate the entire thing. So delicious. If I lived closer (I am from Charlottesville) I would be a regular. Place was clean, staff was sweet and attentive.

Untechsavy THANKS
Had Pollo Guisado but with a darker rice that seemed flavored with the black beans that were in it ( for reference it looked along the lines of a Jamaican style peas and rice ) . The consume or soup the stewed chicken came in was so good I took some home to put on something else. I wished they had a thicker tortilla or some kind of bread to go with this so I could pick the chicken out make it into a taco with maybe pickled carrots, pickled onions and pickled ginger added. A monkey bread would have went perfect with this!
