Chicken mole w/ rice was good, made with a little spicy flavor. Steak quesadilla and guacamole was good also, the michelada was made perfect the way we ordered it. Corn Tortillas are hand made. Not busy while we where there (5’s pm) and prices are reasonable, left here full. We found our new spot and it’s right off the freeway, so convenient when we’re passing thru town.

Review for food truck: Great food, and friendly people! We got a few tacos, a quesadilla for Mr son, and the pupusa. Everything tasted very fresh. We needed a quick stop on a road trip through town, and this was perfect.

I went to the direction on Salida Boulevard but I couldn’t find the food truck, I saw the tables only and I was driving from Lathrop just to get there. When they have the restaurant I use to go after work but now they say they have a truck but where is that truck???I’m very disappointed!!!

Okay, I did not want to jump to conclusions based on one bad experience, so I decided to give this place one more “sit down” chance before posting this review. In short, the taco’s were bland, the portions were skimpy, and my $9 shrimp burrito did not have any shrimp in it (no, I am not kidding). Unless the shrimp was minced up and embedded into the beans, I did not see it or taste it. I understand the need to make a profit, however, we all work hard for our money and expect to get what is advertised when ordering from a menu at an establishment. We will not be coming back again. Would rather do fast food than waste my money here.

I don’t know why this place doesn’t have more reviews. The food is excellent, well priced, and you get a good value with the hearty portions. The service is beyond professional even from the young staff of what appears to be a family ran restaurant. This is some of the best authentic Mexican food I have ever tried. I would say it’s better than my mom’s food but I would get slapped.

Prices are high, food is ok, service could be better. Server never check on us, we had to go to her for more water. The mole plate is small. They over charge me by $4.00, make sure you check your bill.

It’s a Mexican restaurant in a strip mall by the freeway. I’ve been to these before, and this is better than most. It seems like they’re trying, at least.
But then you hear the “ding” of the microwave, and your $12 enchiladas come out dry and disappointing. I am 85% sure their green sauce is just straight up La Victoria from the jar. We eat the same stuff at home, and it looks and tastes just like this. Their “signature” quesadillas are ridiculously expensive. I mean, I didn’t see one, so maybe they’re enormous and wonderful and worth the price, but based on what we ate here, I don’t see how that’s possible.
So you could do worse on 99. But I think you would be better off going south and trying one of those places on the strip of “downtown” Salida.

Original, Authentic and Delicious! I have never had such great Mexican food all hand made in the kitchen! Even the chips! This Seattleite will be retuning for sure! As far as quantity… I couldn’t even finish… great lunch for tomorrow tons of food and I’m stuffed!

We tried La Casa De Esther for the first time today and were unpleasantly surprised. The chicken in the wet burrito didn’t seemed to be cooked fresh but rather warmed up pre-cooked and pre-cut pieces that was heavily peppered. The beans didn’t seem to be authentic. And I agree with the previous comment about the red sauce not tasting very good. Cute place though.
