I’m giving La Carreta Restaurant three stars not based on its service or even the quality of the food but because when in Miami, you want a Cuban sandwich you want it to come out hot and the cheese melted, at best disappointed as they charge more than most local places in the area. Service was good plenty of parking.

My family have been dining here almost for 25 years. We like this location and stop by on the way to Miami airport and from the airport.

Past year after covid, it has been disappointing so we skipped last 4 years.
The other week we gave it a try and pleasantly surprised for 2 reasons.
Food was delicious and price was still pre-covid price.
Cuban sampler had pork, beef, yuca, rice and plantains. It was so delicious and had a big portion. Ropa vieja was just ok.
I loved La Carreta salad as always!
Flan and Cuban coffee were perfect ending to the meal.
I guess food is not consistent depending on when you visit the restaurant. But this time food at La Carreta was really good and we will definitely come back.

Tasty food, low prices, reasonable portion size, quick service, highly recommended! We visited Sunday brunch time, a little before noon, a party of 4, they were busy, people seated at nearly every table, but we were seated immediately with no waiting. Same with the parking — free parking, parking lot almost full, but we didn’t have any problem finding a parking spot.

Oh, one more thing. I’m picky, avoiding added sugar and caffeine, and they were able to accommodate me. I had decaffeinated cafe con leche with Splenda packets. And they gave me a bottle of no sugar added syrup for my French toast. When ordering the French toast I made sure they had the no sugar added syrup. They made a little mistake, when they brought out the French toast it had 2 packets of regular syrup. It took me only a moment to catch the waiter’s attention and remind him of my request for no sugar added syrup. He then quickly brought me the correct no sugar added syrup. So even if there is a problem, they have quick service and good attitude and promptly straighten out the problem.

To be Honest, I didn’t go in and eat on this trip, though the food IS good and authentic Cuban, I went to “La Ventanilla” (outside window) for cafecito, espresso, and Good conversation with friends. They have permanent Hightop standing little tables to hangout and socialize outdoors… Good Times!
So Go to either have a meal, or hangout outside by the café window or both, either way it’s a Nice time. ENJOY!!

If I could give zero stars I would! I grew up eating here and I can’t believe how bad it has gotten! I came on a Wednesday and tried to order the fricase de pollo and garbanzos and they were out of both! So then I tried to order caldo gallego and they were out of that as well. I had a croquet and avocado and they had no green limes only lemon. Amazing! No limes a Cuban restaurant! I knew then I needed to get up and walk out but I ended up ordering garlic chicken and it was terrible! Never coming here again! What a shame! So sad

The service here is superb. Very attentive. This is a big, busy restaurant yet they make you feel like you’re eating at home. Passing through Miami and wanted to get my dose of great Cuban food. La Carreta is as traditional as it gets!

Superbly located on Kendall drive right by the turnpike and down the street from 878, this is my go to spot.

I ordered the fried fish with yellow rice and maduros, with a café con leche and a guava pastelito for dessert. Everything was fantastic. Can’t wait to get back.

Food for the most part is solid at great prices but their staff are honest and friendly. I left my wallet during lunch and when I called a few hours after, they had it in an envelope ready for me. When checking the wallet, everything was there. Appreciate them being honest.
