La Cantina has a nice atmosphere and is beautifully decorated. The staff are super friendly. I’m not sure if it was just the day we went, but the restaurant was pretty dead on a Sunday around lunch time.

I ordered the Milenesa Torta with a side of Cesar salad and the dragon fruit margarita. I didn’t enjoy my main course as much as I enjoyed the birria loaded fries (LOTS of cheese n’ toppings to the point where we definitely needed a fork to eat it). The Cesar salad dressing is definitely very fish forward and the salad was way more flavorful than the torta. The cocktails are delicious here and I like how they do a half flake salt, half tajín rim.

I had the worst experience. My friends and I went because we were craving Mexican food. Our server, Erica, started off very friendly. Since it was our first time there, we asked a lot of questions—which I think is completely normal for new customers.

When the food came out, she asked if everything was correct. My dish was missing, so she asked what I had ordered. After about 10 minutes, my food finally arrived, and I enjoyed it.

The issue came when we asked for the bill. There was a 20% gratuity added, and the check listed 6 guests even though there were only 5 of us. I work as a server, so I know that when automatic gratuity is applied, you’re supposed to let the table know—something like, “It’s included because we have a 6-guest policy.” Instead, she said nothing and changed the gratuity on her own. When we asked about it, she told us it normally starts at 6 people, but because there was a game going on, she charged it anyway.

I understand customers can be difficult, but this? She clearly assumed we wouldn’t tip and added the charge on purpose. I tip well because I know the job—I’m happy to reward good service, and I’ll even go higher when it’s deserved. But this whole experience was uncomfortable, annoying, and honestly just nasty. Also $22 for this instant noodles was not it.

Nice ambiance, but crowded. Food is very good. Generous portions. Tasty Margaritas. However seems to be short of staff. Although the Corteous and friendly service is remarkable.

Visitors from out of town and wanted to try something new. First glance, we thought this place was closed. There was no action outside and you couldn’t see the lights driving by if you weren’t going extremely slow and trying really hard to see inside. Parked and took a chance that it was open. Immediately seated what seemed to be a small space until you see the bar area and outside access. Food was reasonably priced for the area, options we are not too used to with ingredients that made us say eww a little. Their delicacy is not the same as our delicacy.

Our waiter was great, he was extremely helpful and answered all our questions and gave us advice as well. Drinks were out fairly quick and food did not take too long. I’d say the wait time was less than other places. We all tried to get something different to ensure we got different feedback and opinions. They do not have kid options though so that was a minus. Overall food and experience was good. Would recommend.

The hostess arrived a little late and, despite clearly seeing there were two of us, asked how many. When we confirmed “two,” she responded with, “Only two?”—as if disappointed, which made the interaction feel a bit awkward. Our waitress was excellent.

We ordered the chicharrón de arrachera, which only came with three tostadas—forcing us to pay extra for six more. We also had the four carne asada tacos, but the tortillas were drenched in oil. Lastly, we ordered the arrachera cooked medium. It actually tasted good, but the presentation was underwhelming and didn’t look appealing on the plate.

We only received a military discount for one dish – arrachera.

This place was really great, and we will definitely be back. It’s gluten friendly which works perfect for me and our server Karen was very informative, and made the atmosphere even better. We didn’t realize went during happy hour which is all day Thursday, so that added to the experience. The Lengua is a must try! I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. I’ll be back for that dish alone. The $17 Lengua dish honestly outshined the $38 dish we got as well. The appetizer of Elote with bone marrow essentially was different and honestly another must try. Ventura the bartender ended the night for us with some really great flambé Carajillos. Like I said definitely a must try and we will be back

If you expect chips and maybe a picy salsa, stay home. If you want salt or napkins on the table, this is not the place. If you want your food to taste anything like Mexican food, you’re better off at sonic. If you like beans and rice with your entree, that will be an extra $12 for a small portion. This isn’t any kind of hyperbole.

If you enjoy lighting Hundred dollar bills for a tasteless, bland dinner, you’ve found your happy place. Good luck!

We were a party of 10. The evening started bad when I (in a wheelchair) could not get in the front door because of a step and narrow doorway. The hostess had to unlock a door going into the bar. When she came out with the key I said sorry and she literally rolled her eyes (I was not the only one that noticed the rolling of eyes) and had an attitude through the whole ordeal of unlocking the door. I ordered the Flautas Flashed fried corn tortillas rolled with chicken and served with mexican cream, queso fresco, lettuce and tomatoes. I forced one down. The chicken was so dry I needed a drink or water with every bite. The beans and rice were the best part of the plate. Yeah, we should have said something, but didn’t. I don’t think anyone enjoyed their meal. I have never seen such greasy tortillas served with some of the meals our party ordered. The shrimp cocktail tasted like sugar was added. Everyone in the party said, never again will we go to this restaurant. Maybe it was a bad night, but we were the only table in the restaurant for a while. I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but a hostess with an attitude letting someone in a wheelchair in and not good food… I had too.

I liked everything I ordered, that’s really difficult in a restaurant, the one who served us was very nice Juan Francisco. I like that this place is open late, I arrived at 10 pm. I had a great time when I went there, they were singing live music. I would definitely go back.
