Stopped on a Saturday around lunch time. Not real busy. We where greeted fast and seated. The hostess was very friendly and helpful. We sat for awhile before our waitress greeted us. The resturant was not busy. She took our drink orders. Another 10mims we got our drinks. My wife had to get up and find hostess tonask for chips and salsa. The. Our wait waitress showed up to ask for our food order. We got tacos and fajitas. Took about 20 mins to get our food. The fajitas where hot, the food was very fresh and worth the wait. The tacos where equally good quality. Our waitress didn’t check on us again until we where finished. My wife did get up and ask for more sour cream. Our waitress was not very good considering resturant was not busy. Food quality was very good. Poor service will leave a lasting impression and loose customers that enjoyed food choices and good quality. Its Unfortunate and effects resturants for sure.

Hit happy hour for the 2 for 1 drink special…very good margaritas that were compt because of the extra long wait for our food to arrive.
Steak Tacos were very hot and deeeeelicious according to the Mrs.
The Cantina Skillet Pollo was a good sized portion with steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, onions and peppers…alot for your money and very good!
We’ll definitely be back again and hopefully they won’t lose our order again.
2nd Visit…
This was our second stop here and the service was still lacking unfortunately.
Both of our orders seemed to take quite awhile despite it being surprisingly slow on a Cinco de Mayo weekend (maybe a sign that things aren’t too positive).
Both of our orders came out incorrect…
the Burrito Chilanga Grande was ordered with double rice and no beans, the El Cantinazo was ordered with the extra shrimp…the first order came with beans and the second one was sans the shrimp.
The Burrito was very good…the El Cantinazo was a good size portion of a meal to say the least! It’s negative was the spiciness of the Chorizo overpowered the dish..it was VERY spicy, the chicken, steak, and pork were all overcooked as well. The best part was the shrmp, which was brought out a few minutes late as it was forgotten to begin with.
I’ve had versions of this dish at four or five different places and this one rates low on my list.
I think we’ll be back for one more visit as they’re still items on the menu that look tempting…
3rd Visit…
This was our third visit to this Cedar Rapids and I think it’ll be awhile before we go back.
All three visits had some glimmer of hope but fell short on the whole each time.
The chips and salsa seem to be legit and those have been consistently good.
The Barilla Burrito tortilla was done to perfection but what was inside fell short. It could have been outstanding but with tons of rice and very little beans and more importantly, very little Barilla meat it fell short.
Service was faster this time but being that it was a Friday at lunch time and we were two of about five people in the place it should have been.

Unfortunately, after speaking with the manager they don’t honor their advertised prices for $1.00 tacos when you carry out on Tuesday, like they did previously.
That aside, we waited 30 min for our order of 10 tacos. If you’re looking for authentic Mexican, keep looking. It didn’t seem like there was any spice in the beef taco and it was pretty small portions (see pics).

Sports Center
The margaritas here were among the WORST I’ve ever had, but the food was pretty good. No lime taste to the margarita at all. It tasted like it came out of a can that expired 5 years ago. Just awful.
Service was slow because there were too few employees. The employees who we interacted with were working very, very hard. But the margaritas were terrible.

My experience here was top notch. Atmosphere was very comfortable. The booths were spacious and roomy, the building was clean and inviting, and the staff was incredible. We were seated right away and greeted very warmly. The staff was very informative and even helped guide decisions on what fit our liking. All recommendations from the staff were spot on. The food was presented nicely and it was heavenly. I recommend this restaurant to everyone if you like mexican cuisine. Even if you don’t, they still have a good assortment of burgers and fries. Enjoy!!

They have no organization, servers do not have sections, and make their own drinks so they are inconsistent. Took 10 minutes for someone to come up to us and ask “no one came up to you?” after being seated by a host who should have notified whoever’s turn it was, the restaurant was half empty and not busy. We must have been visibly upset because four other servers came up to us asking if someone had served us yet while waiting for our drinks. Food was average nothing special, they need organization, all of this could have been easily avoided.

I am not one to leave reviews but this place has got to be the only place that has made me furious. My fiance picked us up some dinner last night. He comes home and we are getting every thing out of the bag. We had asked for a side of beans. As I was opening the side, I was just left speechless and absolutely livid at what I was seeing. The beans were drenched LITERALLY drenched in cheese. At that point, the beans were not even salvageable because every little bit was covered. Just sick to my stomach.

Never been here before. Won’t be back. Stopped in Sunday afternoon. Only a handful of people seated. Looked to be two waiters working. Very very slow service. Margarita may not have had alcohol- it was bad. Food was mid to not great. Don’t order street corn appetizer it’s terrible. Looks cool inside but this place needs help.
