I have been dining at La Cabana once a year for quite a while now…maybe a decade. My job takes me out to Olean annually. The food has always been good but the service was always a bit slow….I went in today and noticed the place turned completely around. I was greeted promptly and my food came out beautifully plated and so delicious. I asked the gentleman who seemed to be the reason for the change if there was new management and of course yes there was. I was dining alone and while I was eating a party of 10 came in. They did not call ahead which can be a nightmare for so little staff. Carlos didn’t miss a beat. He served them with a smile and got their food out to them quickly and accurately. If you are ever in Olean do yourself a favor and eat at La Cabana. I have included pictures to entice you. I even loved the coffee service, beautiful cup and delicious. There is easy parking right outside the restaurant, plenty of vegetarian options and clean restrooms.

I’m so surprised I haven’t seen any posts about La Cabana in Olean. People are sleeping on this! Since new ownership and management, this place is AMAAAAAZING!!! Authentic Mexican flavors that blew us away! Don’t miss out on Birria Tacos, Tacos Tinga (Chipotle chicken) Chimichanga, and Carnitas…extra crispy! Not everything photographed, as we already started eating.

After a long strenuous day. The second you walk through the doors and get greeted by their warm friendly staff. You feel as if your problems are slowly melting away. The comforting Mexican jingle playing on the speakers and the ice cold Modelo’s create a sense of relaxation. The food is rich in taste and perfectly seasoned. The salsa and chips are homemade and are delicious. The vibrant colors of the paint on the walls and the traditional Mexican paintings add to the charm of this amazing little place. Definitely a must stop here if you are looking for a great place to eat and unwind.

The worst Mexican food I’ve ever had in my life. Meat tasted old. Corn tortillas in enchiladas tasted stale and undercooked. One of the cheese enchiladas tasted like and had the texture of a melted cheese stick stuffed into a tortilla with bland tomato sauce poured on top of it. How this place has such good reviews I don’t know. Stay away from this place unless they magically learn how to cook better.

We had the chance to stop in for dinner and the food and service was superb! We were greeted at the door and shown to our seat. One of the workers immediately came with chips and salsa. The staff were great and made us feel at home! We ordered and in no time at all we had our meals..we got burritos and I had a chicken and shrimp fajita. Our food was very good and we will be going back. Give them a chance Olean, you won’t be disappointed!!

Very slow, place is clearly understaffed. Poor girl was overwhelmed at best. Both of our entrees were completely wrong (she was supposed to get a quesadilla and ended up with a fajita, I was supposed to get beef enchiladas Rojas and ended up with chicken Blancas). Refills were nonexistent. If you’re coming here because what what El Sombrero used to be, don’t, you will be disappointed. Very rarely will I give a poor rating so close to home but this is entirely too high priced to be this badly executed.
Even though the food was wrong and took forever (which is why we didn’t send it back – not enough time to wait for a remake), it was good. Still, without some major attention and work, this is a hard pass for me.
