If you’re looking for a spot that does everything right, this is it! From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is special. Their bánh mì is hands-down one of the best I’ve had — perfectly toasted bread, flavorful meats, fresh herbs, and just the right amount of pickled veggies. Every bite is pure satisfaction.

And can we talk about the desserts? Each one is deliciously unique and so satisfying, especially paired with their coffee — rich, smooth, and brewed just right. The dessert selection alone is worth a return visit.

This place is easily one of my favorites — excellent food, great drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone who loves bold flavors and quality eats!

The teriyaki chicken banh mi sandwich is my go to. And the Ube coffee is amazing maybe a little sweet but good

The shrimp rolls with peanut sauce is fire

Their menu is very eclectic so it can be a hit or miss. Their banh mi (I’ve tried grilled pork and chicken) is average, not amazing but does the job, though slightly overpriced. I prefer when the meat is still warm, but both the bread and meat were cold.

But surprisingly their sticky rice with lap chong was phenomenal! The sticky rice stayed soft even until the next day, and they even had tiny dried shrimp topping, not just fried shallots.

I’ve tried their mochi donut and those were pretty good. MoDo is still my all time favorite. But if I can’t drive all the way to Santa Clara then this is not a bad choice.

Except Banh mi sandwiches. I recommend the BBQ pork. The bread is soft and the meat is delicious! The vermicelli bowls are pretty good too.

My mom and my brother were around the area so they asked me what I want to order and they will bring them to me at work. They knew how much I loooooove banh mi haha

I asked for a roasted pork but it was unavailable so they replaced it with grilled pork. They are all very good anyway so I don’t mind.

I don’t particularly like sandwiches but Banh mi is an exception Try them! They are really good! Haha

I asked for an ice-blended Vietnamese coffee, but my mom mistakenly ordered over-ice. It’s fine tho cause I really like Vietnamese Coffee in general haha… but ice-blended is the best would definitely recommend!

5.50$ for a black coffee with milk, a bit steep. Coffee is decent but no espresso machine so come with low expectations.place is more of a convenient store than a coffee shop.

Great portions and service!

I called 10min prior and my BBQ pork sandwich was hot and ready for me upon arrival. As other reviews have stated, the bread was the perfect buttery-toasted state, and NOT so hard/crunchy that it’d hurt your mouth.

There was a ton of meat in my sandwich, which was awesome! I think the marinade and the sauce could’ve used a little more flavor, though. There was plenty of sauce, but it was more of a generic mayo and the sandwich lacked a bit of acidity and sweetness, despite the bits of pickled veggies that were included.

Next time, I’d be interested in trying their combination sandwich, but I don’t know if I’d crave the BBQ pork one again due to its lack of flavor.

The store is really spacious and there’s plenty of seating, for those who wish to eat there!

I’ve been here a few times and overall I’ve really enjoyed my orders and experiences. The highlight of visiting is always the Mochi Donuts. Between the Churro, Cookies & Cream, Nutella, and Fruity Pebbles it is hard to pick a favorite. Every time I’ve gone they have had a new flavor to try. The Tofu Bahn Mi was also extremely delicious. I was less of a fan of the Potato Mozzarella Rice Dog, but I put that down to a personal preference. I hadn’t realized it would also be sweet. I definitely plan to visit again and visit often for the donuts. Staff is always sweet, friendly, and willing to give recommendations.

This place is a hidden gem in Hayward! Very humbling place with even more humbling and kind people. The baguettes–oh, the baguettes! Let me tell you, folks. They are at the perfect crisp (but not hard to the point where it mutilates the roof of your mouth. IYKYK). They are freshly made everyday and throughout the day. The steps making them looks so meticulous to maintain consistency. I can eat these baguettes by themselves, they’re so addictive.
I ordered the traditional cold cut Vietnamese sandwich (banh mi thit or sometimes called “dac biet”). Each bite was balanced with the crispy but soft and fresh baguettes, the savory traditional deli meats, pickled daikons, and buttery pate. Vietnamese banh mi thit just have a special place in my heart and I’m thankful La Ca takes pride and passion to make it beautifully.

I also got a “dirty” matcha which has a shot of drip coffee in it (matcha lovers, please forgive me ) but I’m a caffeine fiend!! So delicious with the shot of drip coffee (using the traditional Vietnamese phin filter).

If you’re in the area or traveling through, give them a try!
