Had a wonderful dinner at La Brasserie De La Cour in Buxton. The French onion soup was light and full of flavour, the beef was incredibly tender, and the crème brûlée might just be the best I’ve ever had. The staff were incredibly lovely and went out of their way to make sure we had a really enjoyable experience. Highly recommend!

Whilst visiting friends and family I found myself staying in Buxton. The hotel reviews were not so good regarding the food, and I was recommended by the lady in the hotel lift, to come here. So I did. Firstly it had to be dog friendly. So that Denver could come with me. Then the food had to be great. And I wasn’t disappointed. Denver slept through the experience last night and tonight. The staff are particularly lovely team of girls. Clearly all friends. Clearly all very relaxed around the various visiting diners. Nothing has been too much trouble. Nothing I’ve asked for has been an issue, and I have a lactose problem. Even the chef came out to discuss my situation! Front of house is a very lively French chap called Gerry. A real live wire and knowledgeable regarding the food and alternatives available. I sometimes feel awkward talking about my lactose issue. I needn’t have worried here. Nothing seemed to be an issue. Highly recommend this restaurant for quality food and drinks and atmosphere.

We came here twice for family lunch and had a fantastic experience both times. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, the service is great, and the menu captures the spirit of French cuisine beautifully. We don’t live locally, but we’re more than happy to make the trip to come here. There’s no website to make a reservation but doing it by phonecall is very straightforward.

What a fantastic, authentic French restaurant – not a particularly common occurrence in the UK. I could immediately tell it was the real deal and it didn’t disappoint. Food was just great, we had steak baguette, salmon baguette and mussels. The owners were very nice and interesting to talk to. They served real Normandie cider as well, and overall cost was very good value for the quality.

My friend and I ordered 2 different cocktails, they both tasted awful. However I did not send my back because I was very thirsty. Anyway my friend attempted to send her back after one sip and requested it to be changed for a prosecco drink due to the bad taste. The staff told her she will be charged for the prosecco because saying that she didn’t like her cocktail was not an acceptable reason to them.

I would say the problem with those 2 cocktails were that the juice they used taste like very cheap juice plus you couldn’t taste the alcohol in either of them.

I have been to the restaurant before and had good experiences with the food every time but won’t be going back due to the bad service we received in this occasion. I would have understood they refusing to change the cocktail if someone try to send it back after drinking some of it but after one sip, clearly something was wrong with the cocktail. I would suggest to people if you are after cocktails to go next door to the cocktail bar, those cocktails are excellent there.

Authentic French restaurants are rare outside the big cities and this brasserie boasts an excellent and diverse menu, with the most genuine Maitre d’ you could imagine. He was the difference between 3 and 4 stars because unfortunately he was let down by his kitchen. It may have just been an off day for the chef, and we will definitely be returning to check) but the presentation wasn’t great and the dishes lacked elegance. For example my fillet steak needed a better sear (although the meat was good quality) and my wife’s dauphinnoise potatoes seemed a bit thrown together. A bit more care could take this place to 5 stars especially with the busy adjoining Bar Rene adding to the weekend atmosphere.

After a day on the hills and not knowing what time we would be ready for dinner we didnt book anywhere so took a punt here. Turned out it was a great choice. Very attentive staff and lovely food. Venison was superb as was the beef stroganoff, cod with chorizo (& 1x turkey dinner as it was xmas) Meal for 4 with wine beer, 1x sweet & cocktails for £180 was excellent value and 4 very satisfied customers. We will be back. And has a great cocktail bar next door!

I really enjoyed this place. The atmosphere has that old French brasserie feel — a bit nostalgic, warm, and stylish in a simple way. It felt comfortable as soon as I walked in.

Had a pint first, and it was spot on. I always notice when a place serves a good one.

What stood out most was the staff. Everyone was friendly without trying too hard. Even the chef came out a couple of times just to get a sense of how people were doing, not in a showy way — just genuinely checking in.

I had escargot to start and a ribeye after. Both were just right — the kind of food that makes you slow down and enjoy it.

The manager spoke with a French accent, which added to the whole atmosphere in a natural way, and the lady who served me was kind, attentive, and just really easy to talk to.

For a moment it honestly felt like I’d been dropped into a corner of Marseille — just relaxed, good food, a good drink, and a nice buzz in the room — except I was in Buxton.

We had really looked forward to eating here, but were sadly disappointed. The staff were pleasant and friendly, but our main courses really let us down. We both chose the cod, largely because we fancied the dauphinoise potatoes. The cod was cooked decently, but the potatoes couldn’t have been further from a dauphinoise recipe and, even worse, they were barely warm. I like my vegetables on the firm side but the ones we were served were rock hard. It was a meal that was edible but most definitely not “authentic” French cooking.
We chose waffles for dessert and these saved the evening for us, thankfully, but by then we were freezing cold and glad to be on our way.

Very nice restaurant. I had the blue cheese burger. So so tasty. The owner is very nice and staff are friendly and accommodating. My fiancé had the salmon crêpe which she enjoyed and said would definitely have again.
