My girlfriend and I were treated to a wonderful adventure. We had the best meal we have ever had, but one of the things that stood out to me was it seemed as though everyone of the Waite staff, and there were several, all truly enjoyed their jobs. We felt pampered and loved and of course well fed. I got the 3 course with wine tasting and she got the 4 course without the wine. We were both very pleased, and the desert was to die for. I would recommend this restaurant to any one who wants to truly enjoy their night out. This was my first night out to a nice restaurant since my husband passed away. Thanks to everyone who made it special.

I used this restaurant for my wedding reception lunch at April 2013. The price per head is $60, which is for 113 people.
The wedding guests were very pleasant with the foods, atmosphere, and the service. They were impressed about the choice of the location for the reception. Since guests were happy, so do we.
The owner, Laurent, is a good person to work with, however, sometimes it can be difficult to reach him. Nevertheless in the end, he provided an excellent service for my bride and my wedding.
I recommend this restaurant for reception of any kind.

Underrated!! Very classically prepared French Cuisine. The escargot was perfectly prepared and the French bread was fresh and just waiting for all that delicious garlic! The sea bass was fresh. The hazelnut soufflé was amazing and one of the best I have had. Can’t skip the staff….the waiters are old school with a wonderful knowledge of the menu and willing to go that extra step.

Four course tasting menu was terrific, with grilled octopus, oysters, pan-seared foie gras, lobster flambe over risotto, souffle, and poached pear with homemade ice cream. Certainly fit for foodies or fans of classic French cuisine. Nice wine selection. Servers were very professional, serious, but appropriately attentive. Romantic setting with several dishes prepared table side. Small, no bar, reservations needed on a Monday night.

Favorite restaurant in the NOVA/DC area for over 2 decades. Vibrant, authentic, comfortable, elegant. Laurent is a superior owner/host; he makes certain that everyone is welcome and satisfied. Each meal is prepared and served as if there are no other customers in the restaurant, and it is expressly for you/your guests. It is the #1 place that I send business associates and friends when they are in the DC area. I regret that I now live 1300 miles away and only get to visit occasionally. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed….unless that is their nature.

This is one of my families favorite restaurants for special occasions; we have been patrons for literally 2 decades and across 3 generations.
La Bergerie has amazing French cuisine, a professional and friendly staff, and a cozy atmosphere.
If you enjoy French food, both traditional and modern, this is a must visit.

I don’t know how I missed out on La Bergerie over the past few years, but I had an excellent meal. The 3 and 4 course tasting menus are a great value. Enjoyed flambéed lobster with lemongrass risotto and excellent wine pairing recommendations. Staff is very friendly and the dining room is cozy.

High quality classic French cuisine, one of the best places for French in the area. Nice 3- and 4-course preset menus. Good wine list. More formal European style service (ie they’ll mostly give you space and pacing is slower, your meant to linger and not eat and run).

My wife’s and my favorite restaurant in the DC area. Wonderful food. Loved the Dover sole. Staff will pamper you or leave you alone as you desire. Wonderful romantic restaurant for special occassions. May have to walk a few blocks from your car as this is Old Town, after all. Spendid, cannot recommend it highly enough. If you are in the Alexandria area on travel, check this one out.

The Wharf is rated as the number two restaurant in Alexandria but in our opinion it should be number one. We went there for lunch/brunch on a Sunday in November. We had reservations but truly I don’t think we needed them that day. Outdoor seating was available but we decided to dine in the cozy dining room.
