I booked a table of 9 for my dad’s 70th birthday. However, on arrival they had it incorrectly for 7. With much hesitation and disagreement, after 10 mins they allowed us to squeeze onto the seating that was reserved for us. When seated, we had no service for drinks or given a menu until we had asked.
The menu was premium in pricing ranging from £20-£30 for a pasta, £35+ for a steak and there was no child’s menu, despite the website stating child friendly. When I asked if they had a child menu, they said they did not, but they cited they could offer “1. Tomato spaghetti 2. butter spaghetti or 3. Olive oil spaghetti”. But there was no meat nor veg, just plain spaghetti for £9. I had to order a side of broccoli to mix in for £6, there was no option to add any meat. The main menu was built for adults and the portion size would have been too much for a young child, and a few dishes contained spice and unsuitable.
When the meals came, we were SO underwhelmed, there was nothing premium about these dishes.
I had the crab spaghetti, because the restaurant was so dimly lit, the meat felt non-existent, assuming it broke down in the cooking process. Other dishes we ordered was a steak, small and burnt – terribly cooked for the price, a seafood spaghetti-too salty and oily. We were all so unimpressed by the quality, taste and surprised at the popularity of the restaurant.
Staff did not come to ask if we were ok.
We did bring a cake for my dad’s 70th, without realising that due to “allergies” they would not allow serve of this, so we were able to just bring it out with a candle. The website does mention this, but when booking it’s not noticeable. We ended up ordering from the menu for desserts.
This was the only highlight, everyone loved the desserts, we ordered a lemon meringue, tiramisu and pistachio sundae – this was ok.
Overall, service was appalling, I’ve never felt so unwelcome, it was as if we were beneath them to come this restaurant.
Price vs quality was overpriced. The Quality was ok, wasn’t amazing vs other competitors out there. But for what we all ordered, we all felt it wasn’t worth the price and the children’s menu was awful!
Wouldn’t ever come back based on service and treatment, we spent near £400 for 8 adults & 1 child. We did not enjoy this restaurant at all. I would not recommend, it is not friendly and we felt guests come for the aesthetic and the pictures, but it was not worth it for the food.
The only highlight was dessert, but pricing ranging from £7+ for ice cream, it is on the pricey side.
So many staff but yet they didn’t have time to pay attention to us. We paid using the QR code. Do double check everything! Ours had a previous table item that had been added to our bill.
Overall nice but I wouldn’t go back.
I had made a special effort to pre-pay for a bottle of champagne and informed the staff in advance that it was meant to be a surprise, asking if it could be ready on the table when we were seated. When we arrived, we were politely asked for our booking details at reception, gave my name and time, and were shown to our table and handed menus. However, the waiter walked away immediately afterward.
The bottle I had pre-ordered wasn’t on the table, and no one mentioned anything about it. While reading the menu, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, assuming it might arrive shortly. After about 10–15 minutes, the waiter returned to ask if we would like to order drinks. By that point, it would have been nice to already have the arrival drinks served while we were browsing the menu. Not wanting to ruin the surprise, I hesitated, but eventually had to ask the waiter to check my reservation for the pre-order. Unfortunately, the surprise was already somewhat spoiled by then.
Food-wise, we really enjoyed the meal. The pasta was beautifully cooked, and the cocktails were delicious. However, the service overall was lacking. We had to pour the champagne ourselves throughout dinner, and there was very little attentiveness from staff. We paid over £200 including service charge, but to be honest, the level of service did not reflect that. There was also no cloakroom service available, which was quite surprising.
Overall, while the food and drinks were great, the service did not meet expectations on this occasion.
Food was better than I had expected, as I had read some bad reviews. Our waiter was amazing, he knew the menu, could explain different options based on what we preferred. He definitely made the experience more personal.
The tables are slightly too close to each other, our neighbours were served our food and we had to swap.
The restaurant was very busy, but the atmosphere was relaxed. We sat on a very plush sofa, the tables where paced well apart.
I had the Some Like It Hot pizza, which was packed with flavour, perfectly spicy without being overpowering, and cooked just right. My girlfriend is vegetarian and chose the Netflix and Chill pizza, which was equally impressive – fresh ingredients, generous toppings, and really enjoyable.
As it was my birthday I opted for a desert I chose the Carpaccino di Ananas a pineapple and coconut crumble. It was delivered to my table with ‘Happy Birthday’ on the plate in chocolate source. Keanu and another waiter sang a short song to me. It was a lovely touch.
You can tell real care goes into the food here, and it made for a brilliant evening. Easily one of the best pizzas we’ve had in a long time. We’ll definitely be back and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for top-quality Italian food.
