We don’t make it to this area of the metro that often but have passed this coffee shop several times in a month-span, so yesterday, we finally stopped in. The vibe is so homey! It reminds me so much of our mom and pop coffee shops in the Shenandoah Valley. You feel like you’re walking into a cabin which is not the impression you get when looking from the outside. I love it!
The drinks were also great! I normally go for a cortado, but the owner allowed me to adjust the powder in my Chagacinno (mushroom coffee). Other shops do not. It still tasted like coffee, still had the nootropics, and was not too sweet. Essential items on my list. My husband loved his cold brew and he’s a huge critic. We’ll have to try the quiche the next time we’re in! It came highly recommended! They’ve been in business for 30 years. It’s very obvious why they’re successful!

Great atmosphere, love the drive through.
Their quiche was very good!
Their baked goods looked quite good as well.
The latte I got was okay.
I will likely be back for the atmosphere and the delicious quiche.

I was in WDM for a baseball tourney and was so pleased to find this cute coffee house. The atmosphere was very comfy, quiet and cozy. I had a quiche and a latte which were delicious. The staff was friendly staff. They have a drive- through which is nice.

I recently found this coffee shop in West Des Moines, and I’m loving it. Not too many small business coffee shops around, and this one is spectacular with delicious breakfast options (I can’t go there without getting their breakfast burrito) and the Mexican Mocha is to die for! It has a small town feel, where the owner knows customers by name, and a great place to sit and chat.

I’ve lived in WDM my whole life and never stopped here until last week. I’ve been back several times since then! Consistently good coffee and food. Dive bar vibes (but make it coffee) inside in the best possible way.

I ordered a hot Chai Latte with half and half (instead of milk) which was made quickly. It was hot, and fresh. My only complaint is that the Chai flavor is a little light (though I tend to usually add extra flavoring at most places, so this is likely just my preference.) and I also ordered a breakfast burrito, with salsa. The burrito was also made quickly, and is hot. The salsa is chilled, and is mild/medium. The burrito is good, and tastes home made.
The temperature is good, the seating area is clean, and the staff is very friendly. They greeted me as soon as I walked in, clarified all of my order, and thanked me.
Overall a great experience, and friendly place. Good price for what I got (11 dollars in total)

The La Barista has something I’ve not tried until now, a Pistachios Latte, and I’m instantly obsessed! The homemade cinnamon scone was also delicious! A West Des Moines gem!

We spent a few days in West Des Moines, and La Barista was on our route from the hotel to the folks we were visiting. What a great find! Each day, for several days, my wife and I each had a large oat-milk latte. All the drinks were consistent, even though the shots were pulled by three different baristas. The drink temperature was perfect, not lukewarm, not scalding hot, but Goldilocks perfect. The coffee roast was delicious.
One day we had quiche; it was tender, tasty, and had that wonderful flaky crust you yearn for. The biscotti is good too! I still wake up wising I could drop in there again.
