This was my first time going here. The food was delicious. I recommend getting the steak burrito! The nachos were also delicious! The service was very good too. I waited in line maybe 2 minutes. The order was ready in less than 2 ish 3 minutes. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Drove more than an hour, arrived at 12:20 a.m. Google lists closing time as 2 a.m., sign on business says 1 a.m. Sunday-Wednesday and they’ve clearly been closed for a while. I come every now and then to buy their hot sauce. What a waste of my time and gas money. This is extremely disappointing.

We love the sushi from here! Super fresh and love that they have both normal and reduced sodium soy sauce. Haven’t tried their Mexican food yet but we can’t wait to!

Cheap and best!
Their avocado rolls are my all time favorite. Spicy mayo and any of their rolls tasted like heaven.

Great food! I was a little intimidated when I walked in because it was pretty empty and on the far end of the street at a corner, but the food did not disappoint. I ordered to go for sushi, and the wait was around 5 minutes for the three roll deal, but you watch as they make it in front of you. They work efficiently, and the area is clean. If you want burritos, it seems the wait time is much less. The staff didn’t seem impatient and guided me kindly even though it was obvious I wasn’t sure what I was doing for ordering and paying.

La Bamba’s sushi never disappoints. It’s SUCH a crazy good deal for really good sushi. It’s fun that if one person is in the mood for sushi while someone else is in the mood for Mexican, you can get both here.

Read Before Ordering: This may sound incredibly strange to you, but I only go to La Bamba for their sushi. The Mexican food is bland, and unremarkable. The sushi on the other hand is easily the best in Normal. It’s fairly priced, expertly prepared, and high quality fish. I recommend the salmon nigiri, eel avocado rolls, and even the sweet tofu nigiri. Even the plating of the food is 5 stars. The sushi is 5 stars, sadly the Mexican food is a forgettable 2 stars for me.

Desha is an absolute ANGEL! She was so kind and welcoming to us as soon as we walked in. Very odd that a Mexican restaurant would serve sushi but it kinda works really well considering it’s a college town. Either way, the sushi was great!!! Highly recommend and will be back!

I can’t say it enough… La Bamba Sushi Bar is so good! It’s fresh made to order right in front of you. Took my then crush, now wife there on our first date. I’m sure it was the great food and atmosphere that scored me some pretty big points.

Gen X here. La Bamba’s was very big when I was starting college in the 1990s. It has been at least 10 years since I’ve had a burrito as big as your head- their super burrito. Didn’t have the super burrito this time- cant eat like I used to 30 years ago. Still very filling, hot sauce was as I remember it. Perhaps I used to add sour cream to my burritos back in the day. Taste and texture was decent. Definitely filling. Hot sauce makes everything better. Could update flavor options to appeal to modern expectations.
