I’ve been coming here for well over 30 years now. Food is amazing. Prices are reasonable. Staff feels like family must try the carne asada chicken, enchilada shrimp, scampi, the pork chunks and most of all the fajitas are all above and beyond amazing. I forget this locations exist, but thank God it does.
We had very bad Mexican food the night before and needed to redeem our tastebuds.
La Bamba is the place for you if you like authentic Mexican food, delicious flavors and great service.
The decor is definitely very dated and could benefit from some updates. Also, I noticed the Hostesses still using pen and paper for seating, pretty old school, but it works. Open Table has a good system, maybe consider them when making updates.
Our server was wonderful (I wish I remembered her name, she was an older woman with a small brace on her left hand). Her service was very energetic, professional, timely, conversational (but concise) and very kind.
We ordered:
Super Nachos – I was taken aback when I realized it only came with 8 chips…but it was so delicious and worth it. Every bite was perfect and you didn’t have to fight to get toppings. Plus you already get a free basket of chips when sat, you can just combine it. And it’s only $5 for unlimited chips. They were warm, delicious and crispy.
Chile Relleños – My husbands standing order. Delicious every time!
Mexican Pizza – A different concept, but delicious. There was a lot of veggies, but very flavorful.
Combo Plate (Chicken Burrito + Chuck Steak Enchilada) – Wow! So good. I love Chuck Steak and this did not dissapoint! Very tender and flavorful. I definitely appreciated the amount of cheese! And wow, the refried beans are PREFECT.
If I had to complain about anything, its just the colors of the plate. Everything is delicious of course, but everything is beige or yellow. The appearance can definitely benefit from cilantro (or some type of green herb) sprinkled for some color and life.
All around, great food and understated decor, and wonderful staff.

We went for lunch because I was looking forward to their tuna melt. It was rather slow that day because we were early. First issue was they discontinued the tuna melt. The salsa was very good, but unfortunately the chips left a lot to be desired. They were not warm like they used to be and they just didn’t taste fresh. So I ordered the taco lunch. Was disappointed that only one taco came with it. Then I took a bite of it. It tasted like an entire salt shaker of salt was dumped into it. Don’t know where they are getting their fish from, but it was completely inedible. I sent it back. Lost my appetite so is shared my wife’s pork which was decent. All in all a rather disappointing visit to this place I have been going to off and on for over 30 years. I hope other locations still carry the tuna melt otherwise I have no reason to go back there. This location used to be great… not sure what happened, but there are lots of Mexican restaurants to go to to include some really decent one off places. This location definitely needs to up their game. It nothing like it used to be. Maybe it has new owners?

We have been going here for DECADES! They have literally been here since I was a kid and they have the best salsa and chips in the universe. I could easily eat two buckets of those and they come complimentary!! Other than that, I love their chimichangas and quick service.

I went for dinner today. I wanted something soft after having a dental procedure recently. I ordered the picadillo. It was watery, tasteless and had 13 big olives in it (yes, I counted and photographed them). It had big sized pepper chunks and onion pieces. What it didn’t have was a lot of meat (sad considering its a meat dish). I ordered french fries as a side dish and never got them. At the end of the meal I told our server to cancel the fry order and she said sorry. I don’t know if that meant, sorry I never put it in or sorry I never got them. At that point I was ready to leave regardless. This restaurant was not my pick and I don’t think I will be returning.

On Monay, me and my girlfriends we wanted mexican food for lunch and to catch up. We went as walk-ins at around 6:30 and 2 hostesses greeted us, one named Uziel and the other Melanie. Melani was so kind and overall a wonderful young lady that helped me and my girlfriends to our table and we had a request for booth and she accommodated us to a booth. Melanie was overall a great hostess as well as Uziel. On another note our waitress, Jazmin, she was wonderful as well! She was very nice with us and even when we weren’t sure on something she helped us with recommendations and suggestions. This was a wonderful experience at this restaurant and I will definitely come again and recommend.

I almost left a lower review on the service. After I was seated a couple of women were seated right across from me and a server went to them first who ended up being the server that ended up being mine. Another server came up to me right after that server went to the two women. I told her that these two women were seated after myself and were served before anyone came to me. I think that she said something to the other server as things changed as he came over very quickly and took my order and was very attentive to myself after that. I even got my meal before them. I don’t know if he didn’t know the situation but he truly made up for it after. Because of that I gave the 5 stars for the service and I tipped him good. I think that he realized what happened and went out of his way to correct it.

I walked in unsure, but left with the best dining experience I’ve had in months. The tacos were unbelievably flavorful, and the fresh salsa added just the right kick. The atmosphere was warm and lively, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive, checking in without being intrusive. Every bite of the Mexican dishes, from the tacos to the burritos, was full of authentic taste. I’ll definitely be back for more, and I recommend it to anyone looking for a great Mexican restaurant.

My food was so delicious I called and spoke to the manager on duty, Noel, to compliment his entire staff. It’s been over a decade since I’ve been to La Bamba in Ft. Lauderdale, but it won’t be that long before I go back!
I ordered Masas de Puerco and a side of platanos. This meal was so perfect in every way! The pork chunks were not fatty and they were marinated and so moist and flavorful! The black bean were expertly seasoned and flavorful and the fried plantains were caramelized to perfection – perfect texture! Top it all off with raw onion and lime and I was in Havana Heaven.
I ordered my food to go and the experience of the carry out process was excellent. There is a side door for curbside and carry out orders and it was staffed by extremely friendly, professional young ladies when I stopped in tonight. I wish I knew their names so I could shout them out, too, but they greeted me with a smile and were extremely courteous even though that restaurant was packed. The restaurant is bright, vibrant and super clean, too. I would have no hesitation to dine in next time.
It makes me happy to know that in all the years I’ve been going to La Bamba, they haven’t dropped the ball or lowered their standards. In fact, it’s even better than I remembered. I just won’t take so long to come back!
