I love La Bamba! The food is very good andthe service is exemplary. They serve the biggest burrito I’ve ever seen, it is about as big as your head!! Great place to eat, they have my vote.

First off I was not greeted as I came in the restaurant. There was only 1 other person in the restaurant.(I should have exited then). I ordered three pork tamales which were old and a bit hard, the beans had a half slice of cheese on them( which should have been another red flag), the rice was the best thing that I ordered! It was a waste of money!!!!

Ordered from Door Dash .. steak fajitas: AWFUL!. Should have called it steak and onions! Steak: tough, looked more like ground beef. After the first fajita, no more big chunks just tiny chopped bits. One pepper piece in the entire dish. The rest was onions. Supposed to come with lettuce, it did not. Asked for flour tortillas, got corn, yuck. The rice was good. Worst fajitas I have ever had.

Only come here if you’re drunk and want to eat a lot and think everything tastes good. Because if you’re sober it does not taste good. Place is disgusting and dirty and needs to reported to the health department. The chicken is brown and disgusting and I would never come here again.

Used to have a location in Appleton a long time ago that shut down (RIP), so we decided to make the drive down to Madison. This is just as delicious and amazing as I remember. Portions are HUGE, food is prepared quickly and the staff is superb. The horchata could be a bit better, but still worth it. I will absolutely go out of my way to order from here in the future.

Ordered for pickup a burrito and supreme nachos. We did not get what we ordered at all. The burrito is pretty good to me, but the supreme nachos were not. They were made completely incorrect with ONLY refried beans, queso, and sour cream. As a long time service industry worker, genuinely how does that happen. The chips were pretty stale too which was just the cherry on top. The burritos have cilantro in them, or an ingredient with cilantro, which wasn’t mentioned. So my husband’s meal is inedible to him, and the nachos inedible for both of us. So glad we drove 10 minutes for this and hoping to hear on a full refund.

“Burritos as big as your head” We were looking for something different than the usual and I remember hearing this place years ago. We looked it up and had to go to far west side but it was so good. Just a little pricey for my likings.

Listen if you like simple tacos for a cheap price this is your place. It’s no frills but definitely worth the buy if you aren’t trying to be too fancy. Portions are reasonable based on the prices too.

I gotta say, coming originally from Austin, TX and living in Madison for three years, I haven’t found a lot of good Mexican food up here other than QDoba. Other places just either try too hard or not hard enough, and they don’t give me that soulful feeling of eating a good Mexican/Tex-Mex plate back down south. But this place knows what they’re doing. After I ate Fajitas at La Bamba, a little bit of that feeling of home came straight back to me. It was a welcome relief after trying other places. They season their food very well (could do better on chips and salsa), but overall this is by far the best Tex Mex place I’ve been to in Madison. I don’t just tolerate eating this food, I enjoy eating this food and wanting to come back!

I have been a fan of La Bamba for decades since they were in their location just off State St. Their slogan is “Burritos as big as your head”, and that’s so close to accurate.

Prepared fresh to order, with the ingredients of your choosing, this massive burrito is only conquered in one sitting by the extremely famished, or big eaters. My wife ordered one recently with beef and pork and all the fixins. She said it was just like she remembered and lasted for 3 meals for her. I had the steak fajitas and was super impressed. With a lot of traditionally seasoned steak and veggies, plenty of tortillas to accommodate the massive amount of food, I had 2 meals. Their refried beans are sincerely the best I’ve ever had.

This timeless Madison staple is a fantastic, traditional Mexican eatery that I will visit again and again.
