I am not Haitian and do not speak Creole, and because I did not use the Creole terminology for plantains, I was initially told they were not available. Moments later, they were said to be available—but only when referred to in Creole. Because I didn’t use the Creole term, I almost did not receive them, despite clearly asking for plantains in English.
She also asked when I would be picking up the food before telling me when it would be ready, which added to the confusion. This business serves a diverse customer base, and clear and respectful communication is essential.
I truly love the food and have met the owners, who are kind, professional, and understanding. I hope this feedback is taken constructively, as I enjoy supporting this restaurant and want the ordering experience to match the quality of the food. I strongly feel training on phone services and taking orders should be more instructed in the business because I also experienced this the first time trying this place and did not end up ordering because she complicated everything— I settled for spanish food.
UPDATE: I called 30 minutes ahead to order. Go to pick up my order and it’s not ready. Because of her complications after I already told her exactly what it is that I wanted as she stated she understood. I took 30 minutes of my break to pick up the food and wasted 30 minutes of my break, not eating. I will never go back to this place again as this is my second attempt to and failing miserably because of her.
From the moment we walked in, I knew I was in for something special. My husband and I were greeted by the beautiful chef Mima, whose smile can warm anyone’s heart! The aroma alone felt like a warm welcome straight from the islands! Every dish was bursting with authentic Haitian flavor — rich, bold, perfectly seasoned, and made with so much heart… I literally teared up while eating!
The griot was tender and crispy in all the right ways, the pikliz had the perfect kick, and the rice and beans were so flavorful they could stand on their own. The lambi and kabrit were amazing!!! You can really taste the love and tradition in every bite.
10/10 service!!…and don’t get me started with the Haitian pâté! Delicious!!
If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Haitian cuisine with exceptional service, this is the place. I’ll definitely be coming back again and again. Bèl bagay nètt!! Highly recommend! ️❤️
The food is really good. I got the legume with rice, the chicken, beef and fish patties. Will definitely be back for more.
