From beginning to end, the service was excellent, especially from a young gentleman named Devin, who was warm, attentive, and proactive. Once he understood that this was a birthday celebration and what our expectations were, he went above and beyond to make the experience memorable. Each course was thoughtfully served in sequence, from appetizers to dessert tea, with clear explanations from the menu. The dishes paired beautifully with my brother’s favorite Kikusui sake, which elevated the entire dining experience. One small note is that a few of the side bites, such as the jeon and jjigae, were slightly on the salty side, and I was also hoping to see white kimchi (baek kimchi) included. That said, these were minor points in an otherwise wonderful meal.
A truly touching moment came when Devin learned it was my brother’s birthday, he surprised us with a special plate of miyeok-guk, the traditional Korean birthday soup. It was an incredibly thoughtful gesture and a delightful surprise for all of us. Overall, this was a refined and memorable Han Jeong Sik experience. I hope that a restaurant with such a strong reputation and high-quality Korean cuisine continues striving for perfection and ongoing improvement.
Stylish and refined, the interior displays a modern update on traditional Korean — reminiscent of Seoul’s Gangnam District. Private dining rooms available. Highly attentive and professional service, perfect for assisting with grilling.
Enjoy the top-quality beef bbq, with the Small Portion Cold Buckwheat Noodle (후식 물냉면) — an LA Koreatown tradition that made a reverse migration and became popular in the old country. Other highlights include Spicy Seasoned Skate Fish (홍어무침), perfect on heat and vinegar.
Side dishes and accompaniments are generous and well-executed, with fresh banchan and composed plates that showcase classic Korean flavors in a more refined way than typical all-you-can-eat barbecue.
Thankfully we were seated right away once another staff member came by to check seating arrangements, but I thought it was weird they didn’t say anything like “one moment” or “please wait” etc., and just made a face at us lol.
We ordered 3 different stews, and the assorted jeon set. They brought on bibimbap and I had to let them know that I didn’t order that. The variety of side dishes and stew itself were really flavorful and I felt like they were worth the price. Making that many types of jeon is a lot of effort, so I think pricing is fair ($29). Pictures include the (1) pork kimchi jiggae, side dishes and (2) jeon.
There was no attempt to check-in with us during the meal or to refill our water/tea. Perhaps service is better if you order bbq, as they grill it for you.
I’d come back for the food though!
TLDR: food and ambience is really good, but service felt mismatched if they’re going for a fine dining vibe.
I texted the reservation line around 5pm
For a reservation for 3 at 6:15pm
And they had no issues accepting our reservation…
We had an unpleasant encounter with the hostess
But after we were seated
It was an amazing experience!
We decided to go with the Wagyu Premium Course which was $129 per person
They gave us so many dishes that we began to understand the pricing
And even thought they priced is too low
The quality of the dishes was amazing
We started our meal with salad, porridge &
Kimchi radish water – it was the first time we have ever tried it and we loved it!
Spicy Beef Tartare was one of my faves
Pan-Fried Sliced Beef
Cold Dish
Platter of 9 Delicacies
Glass Noodles with Vegetables we devoured
Meat was served with banchan
ASSORTED PREMIUM WAGYU
A5 Japanese Wagyu melts in your melt
Omgness that bite alone was worth $129!
Fried white fish was perfectly cooked
Scallops on top of some chic looking seaweed
There was also salmon sushi i believe it was
Tricolor Pancake with the deep fried kimchi was to die for
We had a choice between
Buckwheat Noodle or Stew +Rice or Stew + Crispy Rice
We are big fans of BCD so we went with tofu soup (BCD was better for us but it was still good)
And then we were given
Persimon cinnamon cold tea
And Kongchee
Homemade cheese with sweet soybean powder
We ordered extra tea and Kongchee to go
Because it was just too delicious
We had no idea they closed at 9pm
We were having too much that we didnt even notice the time
Our server was great! I believe his name was Quan
We gave him 25% tip because he was just great
He grilled our meat perfectly
And explained every dish
It was just too many to remember
We will definitely be back
food, service and atmosphere was superb.
it is on the pricey side but I think it is worth.
i didn’t tell them it’s was my birthday but somehow they figured out and brought me seaweed soup which is a traditional soup you eat on your birthdays.
it was so nice of them to do that.
i highly recommend if you want to experience high end Korean restaurant.
As soon as I sat down, I got a welcome salad, porridge soup, and pink radish kimchi, and then the food just did not stop. Pan-fried sliced beef, Korean glass noodles, a platter of 9 delicacies where you can create your own Korean tacos—like are you kidding me??—which were all SO good but the spicy beef tartare was my fave.
Before moving on to the main, they also brought out a golden fried fish that was perfectly crispy, a scallop handroll, and tricolor Korean pancakes.
At this point, I’m already kinda full but we gotta soldier on. A5 wagyu striploin, the most beautifully marbled wagyu short rib and a marinated version of course, and a soup for which I chose soybean stew and crispy rice soup.
Your girl was ready for the fattest nap but can’t say no to dessert. They brought out these white cubes were a sort of cheese, and dipped in the nutty bean powder? SO delish.
Thanks for reading! ^-^
The banchan (side dishes) were fresh and plentiful, really complementing the meal. But what really stood out was the service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Highly recommend this spot if you are in Buena Park!
