This is an exceptional restaurant and is 5 stars across food, service and atmosphere. This is a hidden gem in the centre of Plymouth city centre.
The food is impeccable, particularly the Wagyu caviar rolls has an incredible umami flavour and the sashimi is very good. I sampled 7 dishes ranging from eel, ramen, beef curry, tempura crab and sushi rolls; they were all excellent! The prices are on the higher side but reflect the quality of the food and is still much cheaper than what you could have in London!
The service is great and cannot be faulted. All the staff are friendly, attentive and kind.
To be pedantic, booking a table could be a little simpler through a website and the capacity of the restaurant is on the smaller side. That being said I think it adds to the charm and atmosphere of this great restaurant.
Would definitely recommend!
The chef and waiting staff greeted us immediately when we came in the door. We were a bit early so popped to the pub for a swift half before going back for our booked time. The waitress brought us menus really quickly and was really prompt with popping back to take our order once we were ready.
The food was delicious! We had salmon sushi, duck and cucumber sushi rolls and crabstick sushi which were amazing! Delicious! The wasabi paste was super hot and the ginger was lovely – it was slightly sweet which I really enjoyed.
For mains we had the pork udon bowl and a beef bento box. Both my partner and I really enjoyed our mains, filling and interesting, full of flavours. It was lovely.
We had the mochi ice cream for dessert which were delicious but I partly wish I’d chosen the traditional mochi (has bean paste, not ice cream). Next time …
Really keen to go back again and try something different.
Recommend booking in advance as it is a very popular place; not one table was empty while we were there.
The only area that could be improved is the dessert selection—if a bit more attention were given there, the experience would be truly perfect.
This place definitely deserves a Michelin attention.
The place was full, but the staff gave us menus, and sent us to the pub next door until a table was available. And my goodness it was worth the wait.
The food is sensational. Properly cooked, noodle broth built up from the bones. If this restaurant was in Soho, there should be a queue round the block.
The service was excellent, friendly and welcoming. The food is authentic and delicious.
Turns out we were lucky to get in, normally you need to book. But give it a go. This is a chef and a team bringing amazing food to their city.
If there is a better restaurant in Plymouth let me know. But I doubt it. At this price, and this quality. If it was on my corner, I’d be there every week!
We had the absolute pleasure of dining at what is, without a doubt, the best sushi place in Plymouth!
We started with the Tempura King Prawns and a delicious seafood starter — both were perfectly cooked, crispy on the outside, tender and full of flavour on the inside. An incredible way to open the meal!
Then came the sushi… and wow! We tried four different kinds — each one bursting with freshness, expertly prepared, and beautifully presented. The quality of the fish was outstanding, and you can tell everything is made with care and precision. Every bite was pure joy.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were attentive and knowledgeable, and the overall experience was truly memorable.
If you’re in Plymouth and love sushi (or even if you’re new to it), this is the place to go. Can’t wait to return and try even more from the menu!
Thank you
