I absolutely loved the sushi especially the hand rolls. The fish is very fresh and lunch menu has a large variety of options! The sushi pizza comes in a fried ball cut into quarters that wasn’t my favorite but the service was wonderful and they explained the menu which is very kind. We will 100% come back!!

Got the all you can eat plate. Every sushi roll had excessive clumps of rice, throwing Proportions off. Each plate I ordered after the next had more rice and less meat to the point where my sushi rolls just started tasting like veggie rolls. I had probably eight pieces of sushi that fell apart as I was picking them up with chopsticks. Overall a very sloppy experience with disproportionate sushi. Thing is, I remember it being very nice and having a good experience about 5-6years ago. came back to try them out again and it was not the same whatsoever. Here’s a picture of What my last roll looked like (little to no crab whatsoever), had to finish it because I didn’t want to be charged for “excessive waste”.

Decent north suburban order out spot for a sushi craving. We dined in today, and while AYCE lunch is a good value, the floors and tables were dirty, service was below average, and there are boxes and shelving that make it feel like you’re eating in a warehouse. All fixable- let’s hope they do!

This is honestly the worst sushi I have ever had.

The moment we sat down, I noticed how dirty the serving trays were, and I immediately felt something was off. Unfortunately, since we were already seated, it felt awkward to just leave. That turned out to be a big mistake.

The sushi was terrible. The fish did not look fresh at all, and the sushi rice was extremely hard and unpleasant to eat. Nothing tasted right.

They use robots to deliver the food, but customers are expected to take the plates off themselves, which felt strange and inconvenient. On top of that, servers kept coming over to ask how the food was. I honestly wanted to say it was awful, but it felt too awkward to say it directly.

Because the menu states that unfinished food will result in extra charges, I forced myself to eat more than I wanted to, even though it tasted bad. Now my stomach feels very uncomfortable.

This experience felt like paying money to eat garbage. I deeply regret coming here and would never return or recommend this place to anyone.

Update: I’m having bad stomach pain after eating here. The dirty dishes should’ve been a red flag. Really regret coming.

I stumbled across this little sushi spot while visiting the Twin Cities and I’m so glad I did. From the outside, it looks like one of those hole-in-the-wall places you might overlook, but step inside and it’s warm, inviting, and has a really fun vibe. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and the food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully put together. It’s the kind of place that surprises you in the best way: unassuming on the outside, delightful on the inside. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area and craving sushi

IF YOU WANT YOUR MONEY STOLEN COME HERE

I don’t even know what to give them because the food was decent for the AYCE and our server at first was really nice and we were seated at the bar near the refill station which seems to be their hangout but things started going downhill after we ordered. We were waiting quite awhile for our server to come back and check on us and I saw that she was just sitting on her phone for 10 minutes until another co-worker told her to get up and check on the guests, I’m assuming. I won’t blame her for the kitchen staff forgetting our order and I left a less than deserving tip of $10, on my card, even though we were the ones who had to call her over for every interaction. I also notice other employees being overly obnoxious and laughing about how much tips they got… very unprofessional since they knew we were sitting right there.

I thought that was the end of it until I saw that I was DOUBLE CHARGED. My original bill was $74.01 for two people on the AYCE and I tipped $10.19 (15%) and even circled it and put in the tip amount leading for the total after everything to be $84.20 but why was I charged for ANOTHER transaction from Kyoto for $89.19. Thank goodness I double checked my bank because I don’t think they would have noticed or cared. I called them many times without them answering on a Monday at 12:00pm so I know they were not busy and the lady on the phone, I did not get her name, she asked for the last four digits of my card and my number and told me she would call me within an hour. That did not happen. We ended up calling them back three hours later and they still were not picking up even though they were transitioning to dinner so how is there no one to pick up the phone. We were finally able to reach them again and the lady said the computer system would not be able to refund me until Wednesday. Well Wednesday came and I see the tip amount was added to my original bill but no refund for the $89.19. I have a charge of $84.20 and $89.19 still on my account. I had to contact my bank to dispute this transaction.

Review/Feedback

I visited this restaurant with a few friends on 2/28/2026, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. The dining area was noticeably dirty, with food crumbs on the floor. Our food took quite a long time to arrive, and when it did, much of it seemed poorly prepared.

The sashimi pieces were cut extremely thin, and the tuna had an off‑smell, suggesting it wasn’t fresh. The fried rice looked and tasted like it had been sitting out for a while. The beef teriyaki was sliced very thin and was extremely dry from being overcooked. The sushi was acceptable, but only average.

The most concerning part of the evening was seeing a mouse run across the dining area halfway through our meal. This made the experience not just unpleasant, but also unsanitary.

Overall, it was a very disappointing visit, and I hope the restaurant takes steps to address these issues.

Always loved this place. Saturday nights are pretty busy. But only had to wait 5 min minutes to be seated. They have a buffet which is $33 with only water.

Cute robot server, fun to watch them move around the restaurant. Nice litter helpers.

If they are busy make sure to order most of your food the first time round, can be a little wait to get your food but not horrible. They bring whatever is ready to you so you have food infront of you even if it’s 1 thing out of the full order.

Tried the all-you-can-eat lunch and really enjoyed it. Good variety, fresh sushi, and a fair price. I’d come back again.

Kyoto in Roseville is all about having the right expectations. For all-you-can-eat sushi, the price is right and the food is pretty good. I’ve been here many times, and while the quality of food and service can vary, it’s generally consistent. When they are really busy, service can be a little slow, and it’s not uncommon for an item you ordered to miss the table. But since it’s all-you-can-eat, it’s not a big deal—you just ask for another order. The dinner menu has a great selection of sushi and other Japanese dishes. I’ll keep going back for the price and the variety (I love having a little bit of everything), but if I’m craving a high-end sushi experience, I’d look elsewhere.
