A well known local Japanese restaurant hidden in this classic cottage. We have two lunches on two consecutive days, because we found out that the owner is moving back to her home country, and will change to new management after Christmas, and we have so many things we want to try.
On the first day, we chose a bento box lunch and a sashimi set. Their qualities are good, teriyaki chicken is tender, and veggie tempura are fresh with light coating.
We tried shabu shabu on the next day, customer need to pre order it one day before. They just use the very simple Kumbo broth to bring out the natural favour of ribeye and other ingredients, the portion is good for sharing, All other dishes are nice and yummy.
Many old customers come and farewell the owner, who is busy training up new owner’s team, I hope the new management can keep up their standards.

We LOVED this place. The food was excellent, service very good. My wife and I both had the Salmon Bento with California roll and Edamame which proved to be a tortuously and temptingly huge amount of food, but we gave it our best effort. ❤️ One suggestion: add Japanese background music

As soon as you open the door, you can enjoy the aroma of authentic Japanese food that we missed since leaving Hawaii 4 years ago. Portions are very generous and the taste is the best we’ve found in the Northwest. Sadly no to go orders, but they’re willing to pack up your leftovers

Cool old building. Kinda neat dark old vibe. Great waitress . Nigiri was outstanding. The krokkoro really crispy on the outside and so creamy inside with a sweet and savory steak sauce. So good. The yellowtail roll was good but the smoked salmon was a really nice .

Fantastic always. By far one of my favorite restaurants in Mount Vernon. The food quality is always fresh. Everything is prepared perfectly, thoughtfully, and with detail clearly considered. This quaint little restaurant is perfect for quiet lunch/dinner dates and meetings. Keep the kids at home.

Our go-to place for some good ramen in Skagit county. I have tried their Cha Shu Pork Ramen and Cha Shu Miso Ramen – they both have rich flavor! Chicken karaage is my son’s favorite. Will definitely be back!

The Yakisoba and Sushi was delicious. I prefer the Sushi in Mill Creek but this is way closer to home. The waitress did tip over the drink by accident. Unfortunately, she did not offer to replace it.

Set in a house converted to a restaurant this place has good food. The interior is a little dark and dated but still nice. Not your typical teriyaki joint, they have real chopsticks and nice looking sushi. The yakisoba was not the best I’ve ever had but still good enough that I would come back to try other things. Overall I’d say it’s the best option for Japanese cuisine in the Mount Vernon area…
