It was AMAZING! The food was great, but the chef also cooked the food right on front of you! Not only that, he juggled the eggs and utensils, throwing them all over the place and not breaking anything until he meant to break an egg! At my table, we had 6 people, so there were six orders! I think it was even more exciting with more people at the table. So if you plan to go, be sure to bring company. These chefs are AMAZING! Make sure to pay special attention to all stages of the cooking because they still might suprise you! The restaurant prefers reservations because it can get pretty packed, but if you are willing to wait for it, this food is well-worth the wait!

From the 20 minute wait near deeply stained chairs to the wait at an empty table before feeling noticed once more, this was off to a rocky start.

Why weren’t we out the door already? Groupon! Thanks, fellas…

(Here I will add that at least when we were noticed, staff were very polite and our eventual server was kind and apologetic.)

She’s a good looking ship, but shows her age plenty.

While sitting at this big, empty table, with walls blocking off the other patrons, you can’t help but really look around. The details of overlooked cleaning and general maintenance start to stand out. Nothing absolutely terrible, but when I start seeing dirt, grime, chipped paint and cracked ceiling panels, it makes me uneasy.

At this point we’ve been in the restaurant more than 40 minutes. We’re seated, with drinks having just arrived and orders taken, thanks to our nice server.

Miso Soup arrives! It’s good. Perhaps the food will save this review.. they just cleared the entire table. Are we doing this with just the two of us? Concern.

This won’t be awkward, right?

From the other side of a wall, we hear a neighboring table open a loud discussion about chicken and salmonella. No joke.

We’ve both ordered the chicken.

60 Minutes – No Chef. No other guests. No sign of our kind server. Concern.

Dear Journal: The soup ran out some time ago. We hear other tribes, smell their bounty even. Have the Gods forsaken us? It grows dark… I hear a small child screaming.

How long is too long to wait? At what point do you stop being polite and simply walk out? Perhaps throw your drink at someone’s parents on the way? I’m genuinely curious, for reasons.

Rainbow Roll arrives. Solid 1/5. Nearly room temperature, flavorless fish on a roll of rice and nori around an absolute bundle of sliced cucumber. Nothing. Else.

My breaking point is being told it will be another 10 mintues, at least, as we roll up to the 80 minute mark. Coupled with a completely insulting roll of sushi.

We ask for the check. Our delightful server gets us a comp on what we’ve had. She’s the only reason this gets a second star.

Too rabidly hangry to add more. Must go hunt now.

Anyone want a Kyoto Groupon?

Food was good. Atmosphere was not as fun as we were hoping for but still had a great time. Their chicken in garlic cream sauce is wonderful.

Amazing food! Great deals! Fantastic show. Great for groups.
The garlic chicken is amazing.
-1star because cocktails were weak. Will stick with wine or beer next time.

We had a reservation at 7pm. Arrived at 648p. Not seated until 710p…random piece of onion on the floor at our table. Ten minutes more, still no waitress.
Managed to get our order in and get a rainbow roll and soup…but it’s 8pm and I am starving..and our chef is still at his other table.

Don’t come if you don’t have a couple of hours…the waitstaff was very nice and apologetic. Honestly, they are the only thing saving those stars. Well, done ladies!

The manager was also apologetic and didn’t charge us for anything. I may find myself in a position to try them again…but they shouldn’t hold thier breath.

Absolutely love Kyoto’s, the staff is very friendly and if you bring kids the chef makes sure to include them and do some pretty cool tricks . They definitely don’t skimp on portion sizes (so much food ) great drink menu as well . We definitely keep coming back, also the garlic sauce is to die for …

Good idea to make reservations. We didn’t, but we only waited 15 minutes or so. Kids had a blast. They asked to rate this place 5 starts. They all had sushi. It looked good and they devoured it. We had four from the grill. The chef put on a good show. My 7 year old ran for his life when the onion volcano erupted! He thought it was awesome. The food was all as expected. Not the best food ever, but very tasty. We’ll be back. For sure. We probably hit the sushi bar. They had some tables around the bar for sushi.

I have been to the bar a couple of times and to the restaurant for lunch. The whole place is nicely decorated (Japanese modern). The service throughout is excellent. At the bar, the drinks are fun and the sushi is high quality. The restaurant is classic Japanese steak house with the chef doing the show while he cooks. The food was good, portions large, and lots of fun.

I’m only giving a one-star review because I can’t do a no star review. They don’t deserve any stars. Had a 6:30 reservation, got there at 6:20. Took 15 minutes to be greeted, I did not get seated until 7:00. After being seated at our table, it took another 10 minutes before we were offered anything to drink or brought Waters. Sat there another 15 minutes and our food still wasn’t even started to be cooked. I then went up to one of the workers and ask them how much longer it was going to be she said she didn’t know. I then told her if we do not get served within the next 10 minutes ( meaning the guy would be at our table cooking our food) we will be leaving. The girls proceeded to tell me that it wasn’t her fault I told her I know it wasn’t but I have a reservation I should have already been having my food . It was then 7:40 and we decided to get up and leave. Absolutely poor service. No customer communication when we walked in and poor responses when confronted. Absolutely will never go there again they just lost out on it at least $100 sale for my group of four.
