Kyoto Hibachi Sushi & Bar in McKinney was a great experience from start to finish. I ordered the steak and shrimp hibachi, and while the grill master was a bit low-energy, the execution was still on point. The food came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor, which honestly matters most.

Parking is mostly on the side of the restaurant, many of the front spots looked reserved or unavailable, so don’t let that throw you off.

Inside, the restaurant is spacious and comfortable, with plenty of tables, booths, and a bar area, making it great for groups, date nights, or casual dining. It doesn’t feel cramped like some hibachi spots can.

Now let’s talk about the staff, because they were the real stars of the show. Everyone was warm, welcoming, friendly, and very attentive, which instantly elevated the experience. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests.

The drinks were excellent. I tried a few different cocktails and shots, and they definitely don’t skimp on the alcohol, which is always appreciated. Another bonus: they offer a very affordable lunch menu, making this a great option even outside of dinner hours.

Between the good food, strong drinks, welcoming service, and comfortable atmosphere, this spot checks a lot of boxes. I’ll definitely be back.

My husband and I are foodies, Sushi being our favorite. We finally tried this place and it was delicious. Ordered several different rolls and dishes to share, and everything was super fresh and full of flavor. You can always tell when the ingredients are high quality, and this place nailed it.

The service was also fantastic, friendly, attentive, and quick. Considering everything we received, the price was very reasonable. Such a great date night spot. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Solid experience at Kyoto Hibachi and Sushi. I went with the spicy tuna maki combo instead of one of the special rolls because it felt like the better value with the miso soup and salad included and I am glad I did.

Everything came out fresh and nicely put together. The roll was a good size and the spicy tuna tasted fresh with a nice texture. The miso soup was hot and comforting and the salad was crisp with a good amount of dressing.

The place was clean and comfortable and service was fine. Nothing over the top, just a smooth meal and exactly what I was hoping for.

Definitely coming back.

Returned for a hibachi lunch with family and thoroughly enjoyed the meal.

High quality ingredients: lobster, sea bass, scallops, and filet. All cooked to perfection.

Shout-out to Chef Eric for his excellent cooking skills and thank you for putting on a great show for our kiddos. Even as grown-ups, we were entertained by his playful tricks.

After this meal, Kyoto earned its five stars without a doubt.

Stumbled upon Kyoto during their Happy Hour. We therefore tried more dishes with the discounted prices.

Food was decent. Service superb. Would definitely go back for a dinner and/or Hibachi.

P.s. Chipped plate used for Yellowtail Jalapeno Appetizer was not pleasing to look at.

This is the best restaurant in McKinney, as a former big back I say this is one of a kind. The food I ordered was 3 rolls, shrimp and cucumber roll, Futo maki, and the Salmon avocado roll, all for 16$ and ordered avocado surprise, all this costed 28$ plus the drinks! The food actually made me full, of joy! The Restaurant looks amazing and has a bar. This restaurant overall blew my mind and I suggest you to come here!

This is our second time coming to this place. The first time was already excellent and this time is even better! Sashimi was 10/10 and eel roll has such rich and creamy taste! Servers were super friendly. This place is a gem and we would recommend to anyone who comes to McKinney!

I just want to share with you that I had such an amazing experience with one of the staff members. I’ve been sick with the flu for days and finally felt well enough to eat something and was craving a hot soup. I called in to find out if they had a vegetarian option which the lady confirmed they did.
She was so kind and compassionate when I picked up the order and gave me a generous portion and wished me a speedy recovery.
Seriously, you don’t get that kind of service every day just anywhere.
Thank you for helping warm my tummy and my heart.

We celebrated our daughter’s 7th birthday with a seven item meal at this beautiful high end restaurant. Each course was plated with the kind of artistry you expect at this level.

Unfortunately, the service did not match the quality of the food. Both of our appetizers came out without any small plates or utensils, so we had to ask for them. We also had to ask twice for napkins, which felt out of place for a fine dining experience. On top of that, despite specifically asking for no onion on all of our dishes, the King Kong Roll still came out with onions.

For dessert, we had ordered a birthday cake. While my wife and I were singing to our daughter, our server, William, noticed it was her birthday and mentioned that the restaurant also provides a complimentary birthday cake, smaller than the one we ordered but with a sparkler candle. We agreed, thinking it was a thoughtful gesture.

That’s where things went wrong. William lit the sparkler directly at the table, right next to all of our food, even though we had asked for everything to come out at once. The pyrotechnic residue sprayed onto the dishes, leaving gritty, chalky, bitter-tasting bits on our food. Our daughter was too excited to wait, so it ended up spoiling her birthday meal and ours.

To make matters worse, while the sparkler was still going and we were in the middle of recording ourselves singing “Happy Birthday,” William interrupted to ask, “Do you want anything else? Can I get you the check?” The song wasn’t even finished, and we were not only still celebrating but still eating. It felt rushed, dismissive, and completely tone-deaf for such an important occasion!!!

The service today was zero star at best. Sadly, the poor handling of our celebration overshadowed what could have been an unforgettable birthday experience.

Just tried this hibachi spot for the first time and it did not disappoint! The food was cooked to perfection—fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The chef was super entertaining and kept the energy fun the entire time. Great vibes, friendly staff, and the portions were generous too. Definitely adding this to my go-to list!
