Ive been to 3 Omakases one of which was in Japan.

All were really really great but Kyoten Next Door was phenomenal. I not only left full (rarity for me ) but each course was unexplainably good and chef Jorge was funny, kind, and knowledgeable!

Definitely worth the money for the service and food you get. Finding the location was iffy at first because there’s no signs or anything and it looks like it’s abandoned but once you get in it’s super super nice and cozy.

Will be going back for sure!

This was my third time at Kyoten Next Door, and honestly, it just gets better every time. Went with a group of friends and we had such a fun night!! We had lots of laughs, great conversation, and the kind of food that makes you pause mid-bite because it’s that good.

The sushi was super fresh and carefully put together, you can tell they really care about the details. The rice, the seasoning, the pacing — all of it just worked. The vibe is relaxed and unpretentious, but the quality is top-notch.

It’s quickly becoming one of our favorite spots for a night out. Already looking forward to the next round!

The food here was delicious!! I’ve done a few omakases, but this was hands down one of the best. Just looking at the sushi you could tell it was high quality. They also cut generous pieces of all the fish.

Mugi was our chef of the night and fantastic. He answered all our questions and made sure we satisfied throughout.

Kyoten Next Door was a wonderful omakase experience, truly comparable to what you’d find in Japan.

The space is small and intimate without feeling stuffy or overly formal. The omakase was delicious, with a thoughtfully curated progression that felt balanced and intentional.

Our chef was informative, engaging, and clearly skilled every course was beautifully executed. Overall, an exceptional experience and one we’ll definitely revisit.

I had such an amazing time at this sushi restaurant. I chose the omakase, and every single course was thoughtful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. You can really tell the chef takes pride in every bite — the balance of flavors, the quality of the fish, and the presentation were all on point.

The pacing was perfect too. Nothing felt rushed, and each dish came with a little explanation that made the experience feel special. My favorites were the melt-in-your-mouth toro and the uni — seriously the best I’ve had in a long time.

The ambiance was calm and intimate, making it feel like a true culinary experience rather than just dinner. The service was warm, attentive, and never overbearing.

If you’re looking for a memorable omakase with high-quality ingredients and excellent execution, this place is absolutely worth it. I’d definitely come back again.

We really loved our experience here and had some of the best cuts of fish we’ve ever had. They can adjust the rice and wasabi levels per your liking and really focus on the flavors of each individual piece. This was one of our first omakase experiences and we were pretty impressed. While nearly everything was wonderful, 2 of the 16 courses fell short for us. If you’re not a fan of Uni, I would strongly recommend skipping it. While we finished our serving, it’s not a taste I ever want to experience again and my only focus was trying to get the terrible taste out of my mouth to move on the more delicious fish. The final dish which was a corn and maple style custard really didn’t end the dinner on a high note. Service was wonderful and overall a very enjoyable experience that is great for special occasions!

In our top 3 sushi experiences (along with a small sushi place we visited in Tokyo and one other in Chicago). The quality of both the fish and the rice are impeccable, and it was a mix of both traditional pieces focusing on quality and craft along with some pieces with different twists.

Solid omakase. Not the best I’ve had but also not the worst. Akami, Wagyu, kimba(esque) roll were my favorites. The chutoro and otoro unfortunately were let downs for me since the connective tissue wasn’t fully trimmed off the piece so they both weren’t the most pleasant. I do realize with fatty pieces as such it can be very difficult by nature to trim all connective tissue off but paying a premium price I tend to have premium expectations. Overall it was a good meal but not a place worth returning to for me. Next time I will try the other restaurant Kyōten.

My first omakase ever did not disappoint, in fact it set the bar so incredibly high I fear if I try a different place it could never measure up. Our chef gave a background to each bite and even the sushi rice was incredible. The drink list was concise and reasonably priced. The vibe was upscale but comfortable for a not so upscale person (me). They even had Japanese toilets which if you’ve been in Japan ~~for 5 days 8 years ago~~ like me you’d really appreciate!

This was our second time dining here, and both the food and service were excellent. Every piece of fish was incredibly fresh, and a special shoutout to Chef Jorge—his skill and hospitality truly elevated the experience. We’ll definitely be coming back again!
