Our server was incredibly friendly and helpful. He suggested some of the best dishes and even guided us on portion sizes so we could order the right quantity without overdoing it — really appreciated that!
We ordered: Pita bread with assorted spreads,Spanakopita,Grape leaves,Eggplant entrée,Leek entrée,Fried calamari,Prawn saganaki,Lamb chops,A couple of drinks
Almost every dish was absolutely finger-licking good! The flavors were authentic and delicious. If we had to point out one thing, the lamb chops could have been a little better — but overall, everything else was amazing.
We truly had a fantastic dining experience and would definitely love to visit again!
Our server was the main issue. Right from the start, she told us we could not order food in sections and that everything had to be ordered all at once, which was unnecessary and felt controlling rather than helpful but the table next to us had clearly ordered in sections.
The most uncomfortable moment happened during dinner. My partner and I were sharing food, and while I was literally eating from her plate, the server came over and asked her if she needed a to-go box, right in front of me. It was awkward, disrespectful, and made us feel rushed and judged in the middle of our meal.
We had also ordered a bottle of wine, and there was a clear imbalance in how it was served. One person was poured significantly more and more often, while I was consistently given noticeably less. When you’re paying for a full bottle, the pours should be fair and equal, this was not.
Great food can’t make up for service that makes guests feel uncomfortable, bias and unwelcome. Unfortunately, this experience left us not wanting to return!
Kyma offers a separate vegan/vegetarian menu with plenty options. I enjoyed the trio dip platter for my appetizer. The split pea dip was my fave.
For my entree I had the roasted eggplant with quinoa. It was good but the lemon flavor was overpowering. The brussel sprouts were cooked/seasoned perfectly. Can’t wait to try their other options next time.
William was our server and handled our two birthdays, dietary restrictions, and 40 fafillion questions with the most amazing patience and charm. The food was AMAZING, the atmosphere was GORGEOUS, and the pace of courses was luxurious and leisurely in the best way! It was a decadent evening and we all left feeling so spoiled!
I hadn’t been to Kyma in many, many years–not for any reason other than it just doesn’t come to mind (hello, marketing opportunity). But I’ve eaten here at least a dozen times over the last 10 years and always had a fantastic experience. This latest one? Truly next-level… and I happened to have dined a St Cecilia two days prior, very well known for best seafood, but I felt Kyma quality ran circles around it
Space:
Don’t judge Kyma by its dated exterior or slightly tacky Greek décor–the food is some of the absolute best in Atlanta. Honestly, if the restaurant group invested in a fresh exterior sign and a little paint, I’d bet the return in increased traffic would pay for itself many times over.
Valet: $3–don’t forget to bring cash for a tip.
Food:
* The guys did the tasting menu for two ($160pp)–well worth the price point and every single dish was spectacular. Standouts: Veal Sweetbreads, dorade “tsipoura”, & lobster wedding rice. I also loved the calamari ribbons
* The girls ordered a spread of apps, and honestly, every bite was 10/10. (*favorites)
* *Ceviche, Scallops, Octopus
* Crab Cake, Eggplant, Watermelon Salad, Brussels
Only complaint: dish pacing. We were there for about 4 hours, and the gaps between tasting menu courses were a bit too long. Would love to see the kitchen tighten up the cadence and for servers to check in if delays are expected.
