Kyala is our absolute favorite restaurant! The food is always top quality, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. The service is delicate, attentive, and warm — you can truly feel they care.

We love sitting at the sushi bar and ordering the omakase; letting the chef surprise us is always such a special experience. Every dish feels like a piece of art.

Kyala has become like our second home — we celebrate all our important occasions here, from anniversaries to Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and birthdays. The team always celebrates with us singing loud birthday song and makes each visit memorable.

Ok when you find a gem you want to keep it a secret so that you can always get a seat but this is one of those gems I want to tell everyone about because the food, staff and atmosphere was incredible, my daughter and I came for dinner and left with full bellies and some new friends. We sat at the sushi bar and both Mori & Ray were incredible leading the experience of authentic Japanese dining. We started by ordering a few of the house recommended specials and the left the rest to the chefs for us. It wasn’t their omakase but it was chefs choice and we enjoyed every bite. Every nigiri was fresh and beautiful with a perfect rice ratio. We kept telling them how much it reminded us of our time in Japan. It was so nice to have so many specialty fishes and the house made tofu is something I will crave and dream about. The tofu of the day was an avocado tofu that was like a creamy pillow of happiness and much like a custard. The entire staff was so polite and super attentive, our drinks were never empty and they all checked in regularly. This is by far some of the best Sushi and experience I’ve had ever and I have eaten at many sushi bars in my lifetime. It’s the closest thing to Japan. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

A Truly Heartfelt Japanese Dining Experience
Dining at Kyala Sushi was more than just a meal—it felt like being gently transported back to Japan.
Every dish carried a quiet kind of beauty, full of care and intention.

Chef Manabu Moriguchi’s kappo-style approach brings out the soul of each ingredient. From the freshness of the sashimi to the lightness of the tempura, the balance and technique were simply moving. It reminded me of meals I’ve had back home, with the same quiet respect for tradition and seasonality.

The omakase course was a joy—not just delicious, but full of little surprises that made us smile. Even the way each dish was presented made us feel cared for.

What touched me most was the warmth of the people here. They were so kind to our child, offering a thoughtful kids’ menu and even making special off-menu items with a smile. That level of attention and heart is rare.

Kyala feels like a quiet treasure—humble, genuine, and full of soul.
I almost want to keep it secret… but I’m glad places like this still exist.
Thank you for such a beautiful experience.

Best restaurant run by the best couple. Mori-san has been a sushi chef for over 25+ years, and now runs this place with his wife. They serve the freshest fish, and will only serve their customers the best. I followed Mori-san from various establishments and I will continue to go to his restaurant. I have taken family there and they always make it a must to come here when they visit from the Bay Area. You really can’t beat their prices for such high quality food and great customer service.

I had a chirashi lunch set today — and it was absolutely outstanding. The sashimi was incredibly fresh. The portion size was good, making it a deeply satisfying and fulfilling meal. The set also included a comforting bowl of miso soup, a crisp, refreshing salad, and a silky-smooth chawanmushi that added an elegant, savory touch to the overall experience. Everything was well-balanced and thoughtfully prepared. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something fresh, flavorful, and good service.

Great little place in one of the strip malls here. Fish was fresh presentation was great and waitress was attentive. All I could ask for. Would recommend if you live / are visiting in the area. Wouldn’t recommend driving far to get here though. The food is great, but the ambiance is kinda hole in the wall. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area and wanting some sushi. Was $30 for the Chrashi bowl when I came. Really reasonable.

Ordered take out on a Friday, so they were very busy. I had to wait about an hour for the order but it was worth the wait! The sushi I ordered was very fresh and the portions were large. The side salad was very good, loved the dressing. The kids enjoyed the chicken teriyaki!

There are 3 heavy hitting, Japanese owned, sushi restaurants in Diamond Bar. This is the newest one to join the ranks. Even though Kyala has been around for quite some time, the ownership changed during the pandemic.
The new owners are a couple from Japan with over 20 years of experience working sushi restaurants in Japan. The new menu and offerings are like night and day compared to the old Kyala. I usually go for omakase so I can get the greatest variety. The sushi and sashimi are elegantly presented and perfectly sized. They’re made to be eaten in one or two bites unlike some of the monstrosities produced at less refined places. There are also many season offerings such as ice fish, needle fish, and even stone crab.
Although most items seem traditional, the owners are very good at introducing unique flavors and add their own flair. For example, their chawanmushi has a touch of yuzu flavor that really makes it pop.
Besides the high quality of the food, what makes Kyla stand out is the more than reasonable prices, the friendly and knowledgeable service, and that there is almost never a wait. If you like Japanese food, you are honestly cheating yourself if you haven’t given this place a try.
