I recently visited Kuya Omakase 2.0 in Uptown Charlotte and it might just be the best sushi spot around. From the moment I sat down, the vibe was warm and inviting — the space feels cozy but elevated, perfect for a relaxing dinner. The sushi rolls and nigiri were beautifully crafted, fresh, and packed with flavor; every piece literally melted in my mouth. The attention to detail — from the rice preparation to the balance of sauces — showed real care and expertise. Service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing. Overall an amazing dining experience that I’ll absolutely return to.

I’ve been in Monarch and somehow missed this place.
I am a chef… (featured on Master Chef season 6) I only share that because I don’t leave reviews often (I let restaurants be the best they can be lol). HOWEVER….
Chef Sev is cranking out some of if not THE best sushi I’ve had in Charlotte and unfortunately it’s not even close. The quality to price ratio is truly unmatched. From the Nigiri flight, the North Carolina (my current favorite) and Queen City roll and more it’s PHENOMENAL. The fish is fresh & like the true artist he is, he hand rolls them all right in front of you.
The service is top tier! I’ve been to other places for triple the price and half the quality.
Do yourself a favor and come….FAST

I don’t eat sushi at all, but once I found this place with cooked GREAT sushi I got hooked. I drive a hour sometimes every week just to get this. I’ve put some of my family members on to Kuya and they beg me to come here every week. Go check them out the sushi roll are big and 1000% delicious.

Got here at 9:15pm on a Saturday night. When i found it, there was no one seated, but I was greeted by a polite welcoming staff. Ordered 2 rolls, some sashimi, and tuna tataki to take back to the hotel room. Seriously some of the best sushi I’ve had! 5 out of 5! Blown away really.

I recommend kuya omakase. I apologise profusely to the chef. I meant no disrespect and i feel terrible for sending my food back. I dont believe there was an issue in quality, but it was not to my taste. I have had sushi dozens of times and greatly enjoy it but again unfortunately it was not to my taste. Please give kuya omakase a try, i promise it is worth a visit.
