I was in the area today doing a presentation for the local high school students, and spotted this place while driving. The service was very friendly and the Corned Beef & Pastrami sammich was amazing. I managed a Subway for 20 years so I’m very picky about a good sandwich. They don’t skimp on the meat, the bread was soft and fresh, and the fries were perfectly done, not over or undercooked, nice and golden! I would definitely order a sandwich there again if I’m back in the area! I also haven’t had koolaid since I was a kid, so that was a fun addition.

We shouldn’t post whats included but not be truthful when you don’t put it in the bag. I love to do business with most BOBs but not at the expense of being treated rudely or just plainly become defensive. Do better from one BOB to another.

My friend sent me the Instagram reel showcasing their Kutie Shoe and I wanted to try it out. For those of you that aren’t from the Chicagoland area, a Kutie Shoe is their version of the legendary Gym Shoe sandwich that consist of corned beef, gyros and Italian beef meat on a soft sub roll with lettuce, tomato and whatever other condiments you might want.
This was my first visit to Kuties. They have regular and frozen kool aid drinks. I waited about 25 minutes for my food but the wait is probably shorter if everyone is there but it was a one person crew for about 15 minutes so she did her best. I opted for the Glo(grape and lemonade mix) and it was good. A little sweet for my liking but that’s because I like my kool-aid to have a bitter sweet balance but again it was good.
Now on to the Kutie Shoe.
The positives: The bread was soft yet toasted on the inside just right. As you can see, it is a good looking sandwich. It was tasty and filling.
The negative: Not enough balance of the three meats. The corned and Italian beef meat was scarce on the sandwich with shavings here and there. Majority of the sandwich consisted of gyros meat. Other Gym Shoes I’ve tried had a good balance with one not powering the others. I think if Kutie finds that balance, it’ll be their best seller. I live in the city and could have gotten a Gym Shoe without the travel but I purposely traveled to Calumet City to try their version. I felt a little cheated but feel if I’m ever out that way, I’d stop by, I’ll just make sure to ask them to balance it out. Also add napkins to the bags because most of us eat on the car & don’t have em available. Overall, it was a decent experience.

They have really great food however I do not like the girl that takes the orders that always wear that bonnet on her head. She’s rude & she gave an attitude problem. She needs to be in the back of the restaurant doing dishes instead of in the front.

I spent over $75.00 in this store today. And my food wasn’t correct. I asked for buffalo and they gave me jerk. I drove 25 minutes for this food just to get home and be disappointed. When I called to let them know my order wasn’t correct they lady on the phone told me that she made it and knows that it’s correct. She was very rude and hung up in my face.

You are truly missing out if you’re a fan of Corn beef!!! I love this sandwich because it’s my first visit and I gambled on a sandwich I don’t normally get. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was quiet outside of the music that was playing.
