This tonkotsu ramen seriously hits the spot. The broth is super rich and creamy, with that deep pork bone flavor you want from a good tonkotsu—you can tell it took time and care to make. The noodles are just right and go perfectly with the broth.
The service is great too. Everyone is friendly, nice, and makes you feel welcome without being over the top. Overall, amazing ramen and good vibes all around. Definitely a place I’d keep coming back to

This is the best location in fresno when it comes to Ramen. Broths are very flavorful and full bodied. Noodles have the perfect texture. Meats are tender. Strongly recommend the Kurotaka Spicy Ramen. It tastes like home and comfort in a bowl. Atmosphere is calm and perfect to unwind after a long day. Staff is nice and service is fast.

The soy sauce–based Kurotaka ramen is fantastic, especially with a bit of spice added. The broth is rich and savory with a deep soy sauce flavor, and the spice gives it a nice kick. Everything feels really well balanced and comforting.
The service is good as well. The staff is nice and friendly, always willing to answer questions and help out, which makes the experience better. Great ramen, great service, and an easy place to recommend!

I love Kurotaka, you’re greeted with kind service, then given an amazing meal. Best ramen in town, the owner is great and created something beautiful for Fresno to experience. The ramen inspired me to be a better person. Everyone should try it! Kurotaka is the bomb!

Love Kurotaka, the food, the music, but most importantly the staff. While good food and atmosphere is what most people look for in a restaurant a welcoming staff puts this place above and beyond. Boss and his team always greet us, are always willing to explain dishes and discuss the culture of ramen, and have been nothing but accommodating to myself and my friends and family. On top of all that, the ramen is quality and authentic, comes out fast, hot, and delicious. I also really enjoy the typically jazz music playlist that the team has on, really gives the place a homey vibe.

Love you Kurotaka, thank you for the memories and the food! I’ll be back soon.

Honest review and I’m not paid in anyway. But I like to give credit where credit is due.

I consider myself a regular here—I come in about every other week. The staff recognizes me and always makes ordering easy, which I really appreciate. The food is consistently great, and in my opinion, they serve the best ramen in town.

I especially like the single seating option when I stop by for lunch on my own—it’s comfortable and efficient. When I come back for dinner with my family, the experience is just as good. The atmosphere works well for groups, and my family enjoys the food every time.

Quality, consistency, and friendly service keep me coming back. Highly recommend for both solo meals and family dinners.

Kurotaka provides ramen with heart and soul.
The ambience is cozy, with smooth to lively jazz. You are met with a friendly staff that are often helpful in explaining the complex dishes available. They clearly have a passion for their cuisine and it shows in their food.

The ramen is unsurpassed; whether you want the lighter “Kurotaka” or the richer Tonkotsu, there are no wrong answers. If you’re not feeling soup, there are fantastic chicken and beef rice dishes that are satisfying.

Bottom line is that Kurotaka is the real deal, no frills, no bs, just a great eating experience!

Kurotaka is amazing. The staff are more friendly and attentive than most high-end restaurants in town. The ambiance is simple and relaxed. Most importantly, the food is AMAZING. The menu is simple (the entire selection has pictures on the wall), but who needs more when each dish is perfect. Whatever you choose, you can’t go wrong. In my opinion, it’s the best ramen in the valley.

My family and I tried this restaurant for the first time and it was the best ramen, chicken, and beef that we have ever had! I’ve only been to two other ramen restaurants that had impeccable flavor, one place in LA and one place in Morro Bay. My husband and I have been looking for a spot that can top those two locations and we have found it conveniently in our hometown.

My friends, mark my words: this is the best spot in Fresno for ramen, chicken karaage, and Japanese curry. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese flavors, this place delivers.

Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen ( 1st picture):
I loaded this up with extra meat, extra egg, and extra noodles—and it was worth every bite. The tonkotsu broth (pork bone) is legit, not some powdered mix. You can tell it’s been simmered for hours with actual bones. Rich, flavorful, and slightly fatty in the best way. If you’re into bold, creamy broths, this one will have you slurping all the way to the bottom of the bowl.
Note: If you prefer light or low-fat soups, this might feel too oily—but if you love real tonkotsu, you’re in for a treat.

On the side: crispy potstickers, nothing fancy, but they hit the spot with the ramen.

Japanese Curry with Chicken Karaage ( 2nd picture):
The curry is rich, slightly sweet, and deeply savory—exactly like what you’d get in Japan. The karaage (Japanese fried chicken) is juicy inside, crispy outside, and pairs perfectly with the curry and rice. Comfort food at its finest.

This place stands out not just in Fresno, but in all the ramen spots I’ve tried across the U.S. It’s that close to real Japanese local food.
