I’m honestly shocked by how bad this experience was, especially given the price.

We spent around $140 for two people, and the quality was worse than supermarket sashimi.

The snow crab nigiri was not fully thawed. I could literally feel ice crystals while eating it. This is unacceptable in any restaurant.

The aji (Spanish mackerel) nigiri was the worst I’ve ever had. Extremely fishy to the point that I couldn’t finish it, which is disappointing because I normally love aji. This indicates serious freshness or handling issues.

Several fish items tasted dull and watery, clearly affected by freezing and improper thawing.
Southern Bluefin toro with a dull texture that clearly suggested excessive freezing.
Salmon toro had uneven fat distribution and a watery, mushy texture instead of the expected buttery mouthfeel.
Yellowtail tasted flat and soft.

What really pushed this experience over the edge was the “tantan tonkotsu ramen.”
It was sweet and tasted like peanut butter. This is not tonkotsu. Real tonkotsu broth is pork-bone based, savory, and rich, NOT SWEET AND NUTTY. Calling this tonkotsu is misleading.

I understand this is a chain and expectations should be adjusted, but food safety (ice crystals), freshness, and basic authenticity should not be optional. At this price point, this experience was incredibly disappointing.

I won’t be returning.

You’re definitely paying inflated pricing for the gimmick. Their sushi quality is mediocre. Reservation online was a joke. We arrived earlier and still waited 30min in the cold. It was 30degrees out that night and we have 2 kids with us.

For the price they’re charging, you can go to a nicer restaurant for better quality and service. Not to mention, they let someone in with a dog! Dog was definitely NOT a service animal because of its behavior but they didn’t say anything and allowed it. They need to do better. Especially with the way food is presented and served. Also, we saw a few times some of the foods were open on the belt… 9O% of the belt was empty to.

Overall, wouldn’t recommend unless you’re prepared to pay $$ just for your kids to have some fun & leave still hungry and unsatisfied. Also expect to wait outside in the cold in the fall/winter, or the heat in summer. There’s no external shelter for you and no wait space inside at all.

Kura @ Carle Place, please, please, do a better job cleaning your bowls, plastic utensils and the glass mug you use for green tea. It’s our 3rd time at this location, and the hygiene is getting worse and worse. The mugs smells like it haven’t been washed and has an odor and as you can see from our pictures, the server said our spoon was water stained?! Why. We used to frequent Kura so often when they first opened but now, it’s like once every few months and SAME sanitary issue. Do better, Kura. People can get sick and we are simply so grossed out. And when we go out to eat, we truly want to go enjoy our food. We won’t be returning again. Shame on us.

Cool sushi spot! Love the conveyor belt delivery and the ease of ordering through the tablet. The robot delivering water is awfuly cute.
There are many food options. I tried sushi and sashimi plates, and they were all tasty ! I didn’t care for the mochi, but everything else was great.
This place is clean, modern and unique!
I’ll definitely come back to try something new.

Service is pretty much non existent. Ramen was mediocre. The Ponzu dishes were great though! Try it once and be done with it. Sushi was ok, ordering was fun, otherwise, bang for the back is quite low. And again, service is trash.

I come to this place all the time and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is so relaxing and eating here has always been enjoyable. I wanted to express my thanks to the server, Reiko, for her lively energy and amazing service. She’s really sweet and makes it an easy decision to come again in the future.

first time trying revolving sushi, it was such a fun experience. You can order the sushi directly to your table or take from the conveyor belt. After 15 plates you get a cute sushi lego set. Ate a lot of food and had a blast, will be back!
