Loved our meal at Kung Pow in Portland. We ordered the eggplant, Zhen Bang tofu, and Mongolian soy curls, curry noodles —all amazing, with that classic savory, slightly “greasy-in-the-best-way” Chinese takeout vibe, and it’s awesome they pull it off vegetarian. Tofu pot stickers were excellent and satisfied our craving.
The mapo tofu was our least favorite, little flavor – but honestly everything else was excellent. We’ll be back.

Kung pow is a small family owned business with kind & extremely attentive staff. The food was flavorful & authentic. We ate “family style” and enjoyed a mix of dishes– each having their own unique taste. The food was delivered fast and hot with large portions. We will be returning!
We got the sweet and sour pork. Chicken chow mein. Red curry soy noodles with sides of rice. For our appetizer we got the potstickers. Everything was fresh and delicious. If you want good Chinese food you must stop by and try this place.

Came here cause I heard they have amazing wings but have to take a detour whenever I see crispy beef on the menu. When it’s done well it’s peak and this spot delivered. So great, big portion. The crispy rolls might as well been a meal too. Service was super friendly

We came in specifically because they had gluten free options and I haven’t had Chinese food in years and was excited to try. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming to my family and my kids. I appreciate that a lot. Service was quick and efficient. Prices not bad. Food was ok, overall. My mom said her noodles had no flavor or spice at all and she didn’t even want to eat it. Kung pow beef and green beans gf were yummy. Kids loved fried prawns. Pork belly was too chewy. I’d come back but not rushing back. Wonderful service though, thank you

I just decided to check this place out after a tattoo session cuz I needed some food and I was so pleasantly surprised with how good everything was. I stopped in around 1:00 p.m. on a Saturday and the building was surprisingly empty. They had a few takeout orders come through while I was there so I guess people prefer to get takeout from this location.

I ended up ordering the sizzling rice soup, an order of potstickers and an order of their kung pao chicken. When the soup came out I was really excited to try it and I really enjoyed how clean the broth tasted and how fresh, all of the veggies and how tender the chicken was in the soup. When the potstickers came out was when I got very, very excited. They looked perfectly cooked with a nice crisp bottom. The chili sauce that they came with was also incredibly delicious and elevated. The flavor of the potstickers. Some of the best potstickers I think I’ve had.

And lastly was the kung pao chicken which was so phenomenal. I have said for many years since moving here that Portland has no good Chinese food in the city whatsoever. I have tried many places people recommended and still to this day I think nothing holds a candle to some of the best Chinese food I’ve ever had. This place, however, blew my mind in comparison to the many other places in Oregon that I have tried to find good Chinese food at. I finally do not have to go to Seattle to get good kung pao chicken. The kung pao chicken was not sweet at all. Instead it was savory and had many vegetables in it as well as that Szechuan peppercorn. The chunks of chicken were great cuts and were very generous in portion.

I spoke with who I assume is the owner or business partner of the restaurant for a little bit asking how long they’ve been in business (11 years) and we just ended up having a really lovely conversation. I think that this restaurant has made such a lasting impression on me that I will be returning and I definitely am looking forward to giving them another try and exploring more and more of their menu.

Came by for Chinese New Year.
Atmosphere: Not the comfiest table seating and a little drafty by the bathroom, but I forgot about that once our food came.

Price: The portions were quite fair for the $16 price. I brought someone who typically never has leftovers and they had enough chicken for a snack the next day.

Food: I love when a place has both vegan AND meat on the menu so my company is happy. The dishes we ordered both had us happy dancing in our seats.

Cons: Hours- The service was lovely, but I did notice that it is not welcomed to arrive at 9:30 despite the closing time being 10pm.

Decided to try eating out on Christmas Day and chose Kung POW, and loved our meal.

The restaurant was crowded, of course with the holiday, but we waited about 40 minutes and we’re seated. The staff is amazing at moving people about after serving food, clearing the tables and resetting them. Thumbs up to the staff!

For starters we ordered the Fried Tofu, which was exactly as it sounds, large pieces of fried tofu with some soy sauce on the side.

For dinner, I ordered the Broccoli With Tofu served with the house sauce, a slightly sweet brown sauce. The broccoli was very fresh with a slight crunch, the dish was fantastic, slight heat but not too spicy.

My partner ordered the Sesame Tofu with garlic, ginger and a sweet and spicy sauce on a bed of broccoli. The broccoli is just so fresh.

Our son ordered the Sesame Chicken served with garlic, ginger, and a sweet and spicy house sauce. He loved his dish.

For the table we ordered a plate of Dried Sauteed String Beans served with minced ginger and a soy sauce. Like the broccoli the string beans were extremely fresh with a nice crunch.

Overall, great food, fresh ingredients and amazing service, especially when overly crowded.

Highly recommend.

Visited Portland for the first time and this place has one of the best Chinese food we’ve ever had! We ordered the fried shrimp, veggie chowmein, soup and Chicken Fried rice southern style. Food was perfectly spicy and delicious. The ambiance is quite and the service was warm and welcoming. We went twice during our trip and the owners recognized us. Absolutely recommended.

Amazing Chinese Food and Service! I grabbed a delivery order of the vegetable trio – broccoli, shitake mushrooms, snow peas with white rice and spring rolls! It came with huge pieces of freshly cut mushrooms! It was a last minute order and it was 30 min before they closed. I appreciate how kind they were taking my order over the phone and how nicely my food was made inspite of this!

They have options for online ordering for pick-up or delivery service. The dining room is super clean, cozy and inviting when you walk in. I will definitely be ordering again and putting this in my top 3 of Chinese restaurants I order from! Thank you for such wonderful food and service!

We enjoyed Sichuan Eggplant ($15), Clay Pot Pork Belly Ma Po Tofu ($16), Honey Dried Fried Beef ($17), and White Rice ($1 x 2) along with a Front George IPA (#7) and a Spiked Strawberry Lemonade cocktail ($10). The beef and eggplant were both delicious, and although the Ma Po Tofu wasn’t the typical version, it was very tasty as a Clay Pot Pork Belly Tofu dish.
