We tried the pork dumplings-pan fried, they were delish. The Bento box was good, everything was fresh and hot. They will bring more sauce if you need it.

The outside isn’t much to look at, and the decor is minimalist, but that doesn’t hurt the food.
Spring Rolls: Small crispy and tasty. They are the typical rolls, but well done.
Sushi: Dragon Roll. The outside tempura was too thick. The inside was good and tasted fresh, it just needs less breading.
Hibachi Steak & Chicken: Steak was cooked as asked ( medium), Chicken was tender and seasoned.
Pros: Good food, prices, service

The food is delicious. We usually get hibachi and sushi and it’s always great. There’s one waiter in particular we get most of the time and he’s fantastic but we don’t know his name. Regardless, the service is quick and kind and we love this place! It’s also super affordable.

I was in Oak Ridge today on business and thought I would try one of the Asian restaurants I had not yet tried. I was pleasantly surprised by Kume. I ordered the hibachi chicken bento box. The chicken was very nicely done… Very tender with good flavor. The roll was good and that’s going some for me because I don’t usually eat them. The spring rolls had good flavor and good texture. The service was pleasant and quick. I will definitely go back to try something else. The next time I am over that way. By far the best Asian cuisine I have had so far in Oak Ridge and I think this makes the fourth restaurant I have tried. It earns my, “OK… That was decent… I will try that again” seal of approval.

If you want clean food with people that know how to run a business Kume Japanese Restaurant is not the place for you. This place is disgusting. Last time I was there I literally saw roaches crawling on the floor. Food just thrown together and cold. Whatever you do don’t eat the sushi. you may end up in the ER later with an unknown infection.

I should have gone with my gut reaction after pulling into the parking lot. This is a very nondescript building that used to be a titlemax. The food was very mediocre. The sushi rolls were tasteless and had a very soft texture. The service was extremely fast but that doesn’t overcome the mediocre food. This will not be on our list for the future.

Highly recommend Kume for the food, service, quality and cleanliness. Everything we had was hot, fresh and delicious and will definitely be returning. We loved the hibachi chicken, veggies, steamed rice, chicken teriyaki Bento box, pork gyoza, spring rolls, miso soup, ginger dressing salad, California rolls plus the hot green tea. Contrary to the exterior, the interior is very nice, very clean and welcoming.

Clean facilities. Great service. Although it’s a little dark inside. They really need to illuminate better. Food was hit and miss. The tofu was amazing. The eel was superb. The shrimp was overcooked. Overall, it’s a good dining experience.

I really enjoyed my Hibachi lunch special! It was steak and shrimp with vegetables, rice, and a side salad. The price was low for the amount of food I had and delicious too. The service was great also. I will definitely look forward to my next meal here.
