The food presentation is amazing, food quality is top notch. Prices are also decent. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Would love to see other dessert options but overall still a great place for sushi. Definitely will come back.

A 2nd instalment to the Kuma restaurant and this was an interesting experience. Fresh is the word I would describe the service. From the elegant design of the restaurant to the fresh taste of fish, appetizers, and sake, everything felt speedy and professional. Besides the hefty pricing for simple rolls, I would come here again to try the large selection of fish at this restaurant.

We are so excited to have a location of Kuma even closer to where we live! The sushi is always exceptional and our first visit did not disappoint. Of the items we tried, my favorites were the Limon roll, the Magurozuke (soy marinated tuna) nigiri, and the Aburi Kanpachi nigiri (amberjack belly; the lime zest on top truly makes it). It was very fun to meet the owners, Cory and Ryo, who were welcoming everyone to the restaurant. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

The blue fin tuna collar is to die for. I’d return just for that item alone, but since I’m already there, I might as well order a chirashi bowl and omakase as well!

The local tofu was crispy and had a nice flavor. The sashimi combo was really fresh and had a variety. We tried the matcha tea and ginger beer as well, both were nice with our meal. We had one of the salmon and avocado rolls, this was fine, but it’s a pretty basic choice on our part and wasn’t anything amazing. Didn’t get a photo of it, but got the Chawanmushi, it was good, but admittedly I didn’t realize how small it would be and it’s mostly just egg custard with very little of the other stuff mentioned. This was my fault for not knowing, probably just wouldn’t get this again. Servers were helpful and pleasant, we came right when they opened, there wasn’t a lot of people so they were very attentive.

Everything was so delicious, but I especially loved the nigri tasting, the tofu, the hamachi ponzu, and the pizzly bear roll.

Best Sushi in the city. Seriously. We’ve been going to Kuma on Polk for 5 years and were so excited a new location opened up! Hands down best Sushi in SF. I am hesitant to say that publicly… only because I almost want to keep this secret to myself ;). Gorgeous ambience, always wonderful service. Try the Walu – it absolutely melts in your mouth.
