Top quality Japanese cuisine, everything we ordered had so much flavor it was amazing! Prices are just right, portion size is perfect! Highly recommend the udon noodle bowl with the pork belly. Springfield peeps, patronize this business, don’t let it go away!

The staff was friendly. One girl working the front and the restaurant became packed to capacity within 10 minutes of my party being seated.
Menu options are not overwhelming, and they are easy to follow.
I asked for extra napkins once she was free, we only had the paper napkin the silverware was wrapped in, no where to place our silverware if we placed our napkin in our lap.
I ordered the Japanese Ramen with Chashu and Tonkotsu broth, I asked for spicy level 3/5. I also ordered a hot green tea.
We had an order of shrimp tempura, spicy tuna roll, and snowing mountain roll for the table.
The shrimp tempura came out first, I found the batter was not thoroughly crisped and there was definite undercooked quality of the batter in the center. I mentioned this to my table partner, he said he found it to be tolerable, he finished the tempura.
The meals came out next. I had the Chashu Tonkotsu Ramen. I am a bit disappointed they only give you half an egg. The broth had good smoky flavor, the spice was maybe a 1.5, definitely not a 3. The ramen seemed less than quality.
I again asked for the extra napkins, she said oh yes and went and grabbed a couple.
The sushi came out while we were eating. We found a hair in on one of the rolls, the girl said she’d let the kitchen know. We said we didn’t want to make a big deal out of it, I guess she took that as to not do anything.
No offer to replace the roll or take it off of our check. I refused to try it. I would have refused a replacement also, but the least she could’ve done is offer. This is the reason this is a 1 star rating versus a 3 star rating. I would not rate this higher than a three based on there being a much better Ramen house off Campbell and Republic road in Springfield MO.

If you’ve ever had authentic ramen, then this will definitely scratch the itch, but it’s not quite there. I got mine with pork belly which was way too fatty. Don’t get me wrong it was still delicious. I’m sure the service is usually fine, but we went near closing and literally had 10 minutes to eat. I’ll be sure to come back and update my review once I’ve tried a few more things.

Very pleased with my experience at Kuma Japanese! The ramen is tasty and the prices are good. Food was hot, (the crab rangoons are top notch) the waitress was so friendly and our food came quicker than I anticipated.
The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and everything was clean. I will definitely be recommending this place to my friends!

By far my favorite Japanese restaurant in Springfield! Pictured is the teriyaki bento box and my poke bowl I selected (sushi rice, chicken katsu, edamame, pineapple, and jalapeno all with spicy mayo) and it was seriously so dang good.
They serve the poke bowls, sushi burritos, sushi rolls, ramen, bento boxes.
The service was great, and atmosphere was super cute in terms of both decoration and music. For the Nintendo fans out there, my wife described this place as extremely “Animal Crossing-esque” and I totally agree.

My friend and I went here as of somewhat recently. I make Japanese ramen at home myself and let me tell you. This stuff is delicious I got beef with vegetable and shrimp tempura and it was fantastic, my friend got the white miso and I tried a small bit and it was fantastic as well. We got ramune aka Japanese soda which I was surprised they offered it on the menu. The server was lovely and the environment was cute and quiet as well. I definitely plan on coming here again.

Ramen is amazing here! Tried all three broths, and all are great. All come with plenty of the meat you request, along with spinach leaves, a soft boiled egg, and bean sprouts. We’ve also had the Crunchy Roll sushi, and it was incredible. The Snowing Mountain Roll was one of the most amazing flavors I’ve experienced with that delicious sauce. Kuma is now one of our go-to restaurants!
