My guess is this is a family business. For someone who has been to Japan, i would say the food here tasted very similar to what I’ve had in Japan. The $15.99 set is unbeatable especially in an expensive city like San Francisco. High recommend the Saba Shio and Tonkatsu, very delicious. The Okonomiyaki gets great rating here but to me it was just meh. The Unagi Don on the other hand, has not been mentioned in any reviews here, is amazing. $24.99 but they chose the best cut of eel, very well seasoned and melt in your mouth texture. The rice to eel ratio is perfect. It was hand down on of the best Unagi Don I have had, comparable to Japan. Service is quick, we did arrive when they just opened so there was no wait but i could imagine the place could get packed during rush hours and limited seating. Also you would wanna look at the menu by the door and decide what you want, DO NOT opened their menu book, it smells horrible

Such a massive menu for meat eaters and vegetarians alike! It’s also picky-eater friendly! Personally I’m a very picky vegetarian, yet still feel I could eat there for breakfast, lunch and dinner two days in a row without repeating menu items! Plus it’s sooooo yummy and authentic! And they have deals to make it more affordable!

I went on an early Tuesday afternoon because I wanted seating and no wait. That’s exactly what I got inside, I sat down immediately and picked out what I came here for, pork okonomiyaki. The store has a moderate number of seats, and only a few people were present ordering, so I got my food pretty quickly. The okonomiyaki arrives on a hot plate that keeps it hot, and they provide a spatula to cut and serve it. Food is really really good, I started eating and then remembered to take a picture halfway thru, which is why half the food is gone in the picture. There’s a good amount of pork, and the okonomiyaki has a crunch that’s best when it just arrives at your table. I gulped up the whole dish and felt both happy and full. During the meal the waiter came to refill my water a few times.
Given that this is in the japantown mall, it is most likely crowded and busy on weekends at mealtimes. But if you’re able to get a table, I recommend this place, especially the okonomiyaki. They had a few other flavours that I want to try next time I come here.

Really enjoyed my lunch date here. Our appetisers were veggie gyoza (decent) and veggie croquette (spectacular, gimme 14 of em). Then we tried the Baked Salmon Sushi and the Super Dynamite Roll. My favourite was the baked salmon, husband’s favourite was the super dynamite – so safe to say they were both delicious and tasted fresh! Would absolutely come again. I was amazed at the menu selection – the sushi alone is extensive and there’s absolutely something for everyone. But beyond that they ALSO have ramen, udon, all kinds of katsu, onomiyaki, and way more. Incredible, can’t wait to come back and try other things. Besides the food, both the server and the chef (owner?) were extremely kind and hospitable. We had a couple dietary/allergy restrictions that needed our sushi to be modified and they went above and beyond to swap ingredients to meet our needs, while still asking US if that’s okay !! We felt very cared for and so happy with the service and the food quality.

We eat at a lot of sushi restaurants, and this one in San Francisco Japantown is merely okay. Prices and selection are fine, but the rolls, for example, are somewhat smaller than what I’m used to and the sauces on the rolls are a tad overwhelming.

Super yummy vegetarian sushi and ramen. The host did a good job recommending dishes that we liked. The mushroom creamy ramen was not rich or heavy at all, and the vegetarian sushi was particularly good.

Great vegetarian food with lots of options. The veggie sushi was amazing since it was packed with flavor and different textures. The veggie okonomiyaki was also amazing – crispy with a lot of sauce on top. The creamy mushroom ramen was good but not the best I’ve had, especially in Japan Town. I’d recommend a spice level higher than 2. Service was fast and portion sizes are good, 1 entree per person is probably sufficient.

We enjoyed everything — veggie okonomiyaki, sushi, fried squid. Very extensive menu! Okonomiyaki tasted as good as Osaka. The rest wasn’t the best Japanese food I’ve ever had but yummy, no complaints. Nice hole in the wall vibe and fast service. We will be back.

Cute little place that feels like an authentic Japanese restaurant. The food is just okay but they have good deals.

Skimpy on the Ramen toppings for a $22 bowl of ramen, sushi wasn’t anything to write home about, and they closed down the kitchen before 8:30 even though they said they close at 8:30. Put a few stars for service because they didn’t charge us for drinks. Wasnt anyone in there when we went at first, maybe it was a sign. Wouldn’t reccomend
