I love this place! The raw fish in the poke bowl is AMAZING, such a great quality. However, I’ve been here before and when I went in today, it felt like the portioning was a bit smaller. They also used to serve barley tea but don’t anymore. The staff are just as friendly however, and I really enjoyed the variety shows and pokemon they play on the tv.

This was a great traditional Japanese store! The food was amazing, we loved the sauce katsudon and the kotteri chicken! They also have great sauce choices that you can add on onto your bowl. Parking was a bit tricky but if you park farther down the road it is easy to walk right up to the store! 10/10 would recommend going and checking out k’s chicken!

The food was so yummy. The Sappari chicken was flavorful and crispy. The pork Katsu curry was very tasty. My favorite was the Yakiniku. The Gyoza was also very good.
The portion sizes were small for the price especially when getting the chicken. (I got four pieces of chicken when buying a small size). Overall the taste was good so it was a good place to try but maybe not a go again due to price portion ratio.

Delicious! We’ve never tried this type of Japanese food before and it was delicious. The pork cutlet was tender and perfectly fried. It paired nicely with the rice and sauces. It doesn’t sound like theist appetizing thing but it was comforting and delicious. Will definitely return again. Very simple vibe and they had one tv playing Pokemon and one tv playing Japanese dramas with subtitles.

We stopped by Kay’s Kitchen for dinner before heading back to Salt Lake City. Arrived around 7:20 PM—about 40 minutes before closing—and the staff was very kind and welcoming. Our waitress gave us some helpful suggestions on what’s popular, so we decided to try the Teriyakidon (teriyaki chicken bowl).
The regular size portion came with a generous amount of rice, but not a lot of chicken. Unfortunately, the chicken itself was pretty bland and not the best cut. The onions didn’t have much flavor on their own and relied heavily on the light teriyaki sauce for taste—just a subtle hint of soy and sweetness, but overall underwhelming.
We also tried the barley tea at the waitress’s recommendation. My boyfriend drank a full cup and kept saying it tasted like cigarettes, which gave us a good laugh.
The location itself was a good size—clean, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. While the service and space were nice, I personally wouldn’t rate this as a high-star Japanese spot based on the food alone.

Story time!
I came here over 6 years ago and I’ve yet found a place that even comes close to K’s Kitchen anywhere for their Katsudon.. and I finally got to come back and oh I just feel good things from last time and remember how simply yummy it is.
Unlike the weirder stuff everywhere else. Somebody tell me a place just like Ks in boise area please! I can’t find any. I have been to so many and after so many ya give up.

We had a fantastic experience at K’s Kitchen! The moment we walked in, we were greeted by the owner, Phil, who is incredibly nice and welcoming. He took the time to recommend some of the popular dishes, and we decided to try the Japanese curry along with an order of gyoza. The food was delicious, with authentic flavors that made the whole meal memorable. The atmosphere is cozy and unassuming, perfect for a casual dining experience. We’ll definitely be returning to explore more of the menu. Highly recommend!

We chose this local hole in the wall eatery after a friend recommended it. A teriyaki chicken bowl is what we ordered. It was served up quickly and was tasty. We will come again.
Just a word for planning, the hours are like a European restaurant which closes for lunch at 1:30 pm and reopens later. There is outdoor seating if you want to linger but on a cold day, plan accordingly.
